Default Anyone running a multi-disk an locking it on 3rd WOT

Anyone running a multi disk clutch like a circle D on spray and locking it in 3rd gear at WOT? I would think that a long as you don't let it change gears while being locked, you'll be OK. I'm trying to determine what changes I need to make so that I'm not going through the traps at too high of an RPM on both a 150 shot and possibly a 200 shot.

Looks like I can keep my 4'10s if I run a 28" tire and go to a multi disk like a 3600. That will put me through the traps at about 6800. Want it to be good for N2O on the track without negatively impacting motor on the street. Attached are my calculations.

I believe mrvedit here has done it in his tune and he's always willing to give very good help here.
I asked this question about a single disc n/a and the answer was undoubtedly "no but it would be fine if you had a triple disc"

Ultimately, call the manufacturer and see what they say or recommend for power levels under lockup...and you are correct, under no circumstances should you lock the converter while making a shift

Circle D states their triple disc can handle it and performabuilt says the level 2 4l60E can handle it.

I lock my Circle D at ~800 HP in third with a turbo junkyard 5.3 and a bone stock 4L80e. No issues. I've done 40 back-to-back dyno pulls while tuning with it locked on every one.

Nice, once we get some warmer weather I'll have to see this beast in person! What shop did you do these pulls at?

Millet Automotive in Piqua. My buddy owns the dyno and he likes doing LS stuff.

I used to lock my Yank PT4400 in 3rd on a 150 shot with 4.30 gears. It's a pretty loose converter and helped me get through the traps without spinning to the moon. Lots of 10-second passes on that setup without a problem.

Isn't that a single disc lockup on a converter yank specifically says they don't recommend for nitrous? You must like to party!

I'm not sure really. It was definitely too loose for nitrous, but it worked well enough. Also the 4:30 gears helped. This was back in 2003 when this stuff was still fairly new! FWIW, I sold that converter and last I had heard it was still working flawlessly.
