Default is 104+ octance booster Nitrous safe??

I know octance booster doesnt do anything for power but this says it raised 10 points which would be 94 octane for me.. I am having a little knock at 1 degree but it comes and goes....I think it may be false knock but I want to but a little boost in to make sure. I dont have access that 100 octane to mix since im not at the track but basically the question is does it contain METHANOL because it doesnt say......

Also woujld prestone fuel injector cleaner be solenoid safe(no methanol)?

Thanks

Most boosters I've seen contain nitromethane or methanol but some don't. It should be disclosed on the bottle but who knows. I would order some Torco fuel additive or the NX additive (think it's called Chemicle X). Both are used by alot of nitrous guys with no issues. I don't think either of them contain any additives that would contribute to a swollen piston seal.

From what I've been told, each point octane booster claims is .1. So 10 points would be 1 octane.

That's about right for most off the shelf octane boosters. However, Torco's claims have been proven to be correct. I remember one thread from the vette forum where someone actually had it analized after he mixed it.

I think I'd stick to mixing xylene with alittle ATF fluid and taking my chances with the noids piston seal before I ever tried the moth ball trick.

From the askascientist page about mothballs

"Another requirement is that your car may not be fuel-injected."

that takes the majority of us out of that solution unless you're running a dedicated fuel system for your nitrous, but if that was the case we wouldn't be having this conversation.

yeah that would make my octane 94 which isnt a huge difference but i figured it would help. I have decided to just get some 110 octance and mix it a little to up mine to about 95 to help knock.

I do want to use injection cleaner however.... I suppose I could call the company and ask about it.

Thanks for the help guys.
