Timing vs Race Gas on Spray
Trying to see how many of you running 200-300shots are pulling timing compared to running race gas or both. Seems like if you can get away with running hte race gas and keep the timing up it would make more power, versus the pull timing and use 92octane.

i've never run that big of a shot in my ls1 but with a 250-300 all the extra cylinder pressure that big of a hit would cause i would think 104+ would be necessary.even with 20*or less i would hate to try it but alot of people does on 92-93.if i had a progressive controller i would.maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in that has done it.

CAT3...from what I have seen...many times you will make more power on a lil less timing too.
But yes...if you ran high enough octane you could probably run full NA timing on something like c16 with a 300 shot.

I personally pull a few degree's and add a splash of gas to the tank. But getting the new engine in soon, and a cam spec'd for around 300shots (another EDC Special ) I figure wont hurt to ask and see what others prefer. Wish it were as simple as the "rule of thumbs" -2*/50shot. But, that doesnt always net best results, each combo/car/etc. is different. Oh well. NA I am at 27-20* advance, figure I would go to max 25* and splash race gas for the 200shot, and 21* with a hair more mix. Thanks.

just remember...race gas is where its at for safety. You can tune in a safe direction by pulling timing...but race gas is way more effective than timing alone. Dont skimp on the race gas.
I hate pump gas!

CAT3. I recently went to 114 race gas - no mixing. N/A the SS like 30 degrees of timing. On a 100 shot did N/A set up 30 degrees of time; 150 shot 28 degrees. I plan on 25 degrees on 200 shot and 23 degrees on 250 shot. So far so good. The 150 shot did 10.17 at 130 - while running out of gear. I 'should' be back up this weekend. Still 150, but in a couple of weeks the 200 shot will be going in.

Guess there are two ways to skin the CAT In this case, I think I'll try it how the Jones' do, some racegas and keeping more timing it shall be. Thanks guys.

Ryan, if I was already running a dedicated cell, I would only run race gas in the cell, and pump in the tank. Thats me though. I tried the straight C16 in tank before and it was not as happy as the mix.
