Default pressure drop during run

just hooked up my pressure guage and it read 900psi. havent ran the nitrous yet to see what it drops down to when shooting nitrous and was wondering how much it drops? does it drop to like 600psi? cuz then i could see why the kit isnt working. thanks.

Just purging your system will cause a 50psi pressure drop. With my NX system I set bottle pressure to 1100psi. After purging, pressure will be 1050 and ready to spray.

NX recommends 1000 psi before spraying with their jetting.

NOS recommends 950 psi before spraying with their jetting.

So compensate for the purge drop. And yes it will drop even more during run. This is the reason for my 1050psi set point before spraying.

what will happen if i run the kit at 800psi or less? what are the symptoms. it was a muggy day out yesterday and im sure on cooler days the pressure will be less. this is a tnt f1 kit.

also you say it drops 50psi, what about if you do another quick run after that? i know im just jumping the gun here and just need to try it out but im trying to get an understanding of this in case its still popping after i get the pressure dialed in.

You will run VERY RICH causing your popping. Please correct your bottle pressure before running again and keep a close eye on your nitrous gauge

Bottle pressure is very important. I think TNT recommends 950psi before spraying with their jetting.

Yes, try 1000 and hold on. Gap your tr6 plugs at .033-.035.

Changing plugs is not that bad, do the passenger side first. Jack up car so you can change #8 first. Let the car back down and remove all the remaining plug wires. Loosen and move the hot air pipe out of the way on passenger side. You will have to try different extensions and universals to remove the rest of the sparkplugs. A standerd fine click 3/8" rachet works good and maybe a swivel head rachet would work better. You may have to use a 12" length piece of hollow pipe to slip over rachet to use as extra breakaway leverage on the difficult plugs. I use a 2 foot 3/8" extension with universal swivel attached to sparkplug socket on #5 and #7. Apply a little dielectric silicone grease on the inside of plug boot only so the plug wires will slip on and off the easier.

Let us know how your car runs (backfiring maybe) with the .038 sparkplug gap.

ya i just changed mine to tr-6 with a .035 gap. only one spark plug is a problem and the rest are easy . hell i had more trouble getting the metal boot off the plugs than taking the plugs out. took me roughly one hour to do all 8

Here's something to consider. I was trying my nitrous out tonight and I just couldn't make it work right, then it seemed to not work at all, thought it was the heat. The problem was at 1000psi (normal for my set-up 1170psi) all that was being discharged was stale air, "0" n2o. Bad fill, or rather to many top offs without draining tank completely.

We ran it tonight after we installed the pressure gauge and bottle heater. We set the pressure to ~1000 and went for it. pop pop pop.

Jeff just about gives up but I know there is just something so simple to fixing this. I told him to re-gap them tomorrow, hopefully that helps, if not, I am 100% lost.

Gap your plugs and check for clogged nitrous/fuel jets.

Is it a fresh bottle, with a fresh fill?

It's pretty fresh, like 2 weeks? we weighed it since we started messing with it, from 28# now at like 24#'s, it was overfileld to 13#'s when we got it.

I am sure you know, but compressed air will weigh and also come up to pressure. If you have a purge you can check easy enough.

no there is definately nitrous in there, we already opened the bottle into the air and also tested the solenoids with the ring disconnected, it blows white smoke and when we opened the bottle just to the air, the lines got ice cold and frosted.

im gonna try changing the jets so that less fuel is added. gonna recheck all the wiring and clean the jets. i doubt the gap is at fault with only a 75 shot, i was running a .060 gap before the new plugs and nitrous but if all else fails ill try the gap. i would hope i know how to change plugs by now, thanks.

Ok, good fill, just part of the diagnostic procedure. I agree on the plugs at .038, doubt very much if they are a blowing out. Like you said, I have run .060 with small hits, also, and no problems. Keep checking as you stated, you'll find something along the way.
