Default At What Pressure does the bottle 'burst'?

Just installed a dry kit on my 00 vette. Works great and all but I brought the car to work to show off and sitting in the sun all day, the pressure on the tank sky rocketted to 1500 psi. The valve was closed but I was affraid to open it up for fear the safety blow out 'valve' would let go.
How much pressure will they take before blowing that little stopper thing and vent $70 worth of nitrous out of the car (assuming I ever put the blow out tube on it)

Thanks Chris. Ya, I didn't mean the actual bottle. I did see a Mythbuster's one time where they tried to get a diver's bottle to blow up (like in the movie Jaws) by shooting it with a gun. Although they were successful in launching a 30 lb tank like a missile around the room, it never would burst.

yea a small puncture isnt as dangerous... but when the bottle has xxxx amount of pressure inside it, it expands like a balloon until it pops and thats really dangerous. impossible to replicate if you have a burst disk.

WHeeeww, Good thing, I was wondering when that little disk would pop too.

I foze my bottle. Had it filled, then let it sit in my house for an hour. I came back and to my suprise the bottle pressure had passed the red (over 1500 psi) and went back into the white on the dial. I quickly ran it to my freezer to lower the pressure then went for a joy ride when it was safe.

The bottles are rated to 3 times the working pressure, which if I remember right is 1800psi.

I pretty sure the burst disc works even if the valve is closed.

Yup. That's the point to the burst disc.

wow is this one old. My tank is 15 lb. but at almost $5/lb, it goes fast. I'm looking into filling my own. Just haven't gotten around to it.

Burst disc's are rated at 3000psi but you have a + or - in there, could pop at 2500 or less if the disc got installed wrong.
When a bottle is hot like take a damp cold towel and put onto the bottle that will remove some heat, may take a bip. If you have time take the bottle out and run cold water over it.
another reason the disc would blow early is overfilling the bottle so never do it. lol
