sprayed through 2nd and around 4k in 3rd it backfired through the intake. Manifold is fine but cracked off the tabs that hold on the lid and cracked it. Its a NOS duel nozzle dry kit. He has all the safety parts on it. tr-6 plugs and is only on a 75 shot. So everything should have been perfect, what would have happened to do that? Its a '00 ws6.

he doesnt know. He doesnt have a a/f meter. He put it on with a 75 shot and he said its complely safe. What would make it run lean?? Bad sensor or something? bottle pressure was around 800psi with maby a pound left. The bottle was pretty empty was still had some in it. Hes ran it a bunch over the past few years and never had a problem. So why now. Car was sitting all summer before this. So he took it out and ran it on motor a few passes to "blow off the dust" then did a nitrous run.

In theory the low bottle pressure and lower volume of Nitrous should not be a problem.
To bad there is no log to view.
Unfortunately now one can reply to a robert56 post of "name one person who had an issue with a dry backfire through the intake"...
Whats your friends name BTW ? There is some NO "friend of a friend rule" for authenticity and verification purposes with Robert .

That sucks man, mine did the same thing but mine was do to a dirty maf. It did the same thing to my air intake as yours but it also cracked the bottom of the intake around the towers! U may want to check that out also! That was when i had the dry kit...

It goes more like this "Try to find someone who has hurt their motor running a dry hit, good luck."
Now I have a nice video of what happens when a wet hit back fires through the intake. Would anyone like to see the totaled car?
Beer your killing me.

They are coming outta the Wood Work Robert! Now we got two dry backfires!

"And he said ahhhhh, you run dry nitrous..."
"You better run, you better take cover..."
Sorry to pick on ya Robert I am a bit giddy, I get parolled tomorrow for my first Xmas home in a Long time, and I am trying to fenangle a set of ARH Headers, a NX fill station, and keep the Mrs. happy at the same time
I am thinking two outta three aint bad

I'm sure he was thankful that it wasn't a huge hood-removing fireball.

Like I have stated many many times.. Coming from a NEUTRAL standpoint. I have delt with alot of cars and a lot of nitrous setups. I have seen backfires from both DRY and WET nitrous systems. I have seen blown motors from both DRY and WET nitrous systems.
Granted I have been around helping and working on alot more cars than some.
A backfire through the intake is normally a lean pop.. However there are other ways to cause it..
The only thing that can truthfully and accurately be said is that a nitrous backfire with a wet system is normally more violant than one with a dry system.(The reason why is with a wet system there are more Fuel vapors in the intake than with a dry system.
Most all backfires are caused from the following,
Bad tune up- To rich/ to lean, wrong timing
Spraying under to low of a RPM
Taging rev limiter.
FOR EVERYONE READING..
All nitrous systems require knowing your tune up.

For those who are scratching your heads on why your Dry setup may be going lean through the MAF.
Look at your nozzle location. Try moving your nozzle closer to the MAF wires and watch what happens on a wideband.
