Dry or wet?
Wet kits usually use a timing tuner.
Dry kits can use a pull in tune (write up in my web).

Another option is a handheld like a Predator, you can live monitor KR and the NB sensors and pull timing based on the KR you seen (if any).

The higher dollar options are tuning software such as EFI Live and HPT.

I did my initial setup with a Predator. Now I am into EFI Live.

I did not need to pull any timing till above a 100 Shot.

You can set the timing tuner to pull timing out when the nitrous system arms or when the selenoids turn on. Looking at 6+ degrees easily for that shot. That way you arent losing HP while not using the nitrous.

Do a search for COS5 on Efilive website, The have a custom operating system made just for nitrous cars. I use it on one of mine and it works great. Uses the factory pcm and changes it so it will pull timing only on nitrous.
