Default How much nitrous is wasted in the lines?

I have 30 foot of nitrous lines, 15 for the solenoid and 15 for the gauge. How much nitrous is wasted every time I open the bottle? It will stay in the lines for about 10 hours but the pressure is back to 0 by that time.

not too much but you should lose pressure after 10 hours. id go back and teflon tape your fittings and check again. ive left my bottle on for over 2 weeks on time by accident and the pressure was exactly were is was when i left it. it should not leak.

find the formula for finding the volume of a cylinder and then go from there. that will at least give you the volume of the lines. how much pressurized nitrous goes in that space, im not sure.

Im not doing it....too lazy but here is how I would go about it. Get the dimensions of the N2O bottle then calculate volume. Next get the ID of the N2O line and calculate volume of the entire line. Compare the ratio as a percentage and Id bet it would come up to a very low percentage.

Your lines should not leak but its always better to purge out the pressure from the line to the solenoids anyway....

Pieces of the tape can rip off and end up clogging your solenoids. That's a bad thing

Use a teflon paste on your fitting instead.

No need to tape the AN fittings. You can tape the NPT fittings if you do it right. Just don't lump the tape on there and don't tape the first couple of thread rows on your male side. Been doing it that way a long time with no probs. Others too.

Go with an electric gauge and you'll only loose 1/2 as much nitrous. What ever the amount, it is to much $$ to waste. So, going electric will pay for itself.

A 14' section of -4 line will hold about 5.27 cu/in of nitrous so at 30 feet you would be around 11 cu/in. A 10lb bottle is 410 cu/in
