Default How hard can we really push the LSX!!!

Ive been really thinkin latey about how hard can we push the LS motor on the bottle without failure. This been said im talking about a motor with good internals copper gaskets with o rings to keep the heads from lifting ect.Im running a two stage plate and direct port system on my motor with a gmpp carb style intake.Im just hoping that i can get a season out of the motor without it coming apart.

What size shot are you going to try?

I think Shiz is shooting for 400 shot and I'm going at least 300.

As long as the tune up is good I think 450-500 would be doable with the right heads, studs and gaskets.

well i was on the dyno when the fuel noid stuck shut so i guess you could do a run of 125 dry after the maf at 16:1 a/f ratio lol, but seriously, the largest shot ive seen on a stock block is 300 using high octane and i think i saw a 525 once on 3 stage and high octane...

i think the motor will take it, its the parts inside. my car didnt have any issue with the motor. the pistion got hurt do to a bad injector. when they tested they found it was 30% off from the lowest other 7 injectors.
if that didnt happen who knows.

i say we start a collection. everyone pay pals to an independendent person. like 20 bucks. hope it adds up to 10k or so, you spray the ***** off your car see what it takes, then rebuild it on us!

What really is the weak link other than head studs? My block was just o ringed and im running copper head gaskets with L19 head studs so im sure this will help alot. But what is the weak link after the heads staying down.Im thinking crank deflection in the block possible causing main bearing failure or rod failure.I might be way off on that thery but its just a thought.

I dunno, but I am running regular 6 pt arp studs with stock mls gaskets and so far she's handled 350 (wasn't a clean pass though, had to let out on launch cuz she trecked left, come down and get back in it) and then on the next pass I had some plug issues from bad distribution (which is why i'm goin with a fogger now), so I think she'll take the extra 50 horse for the 400 hit.

I was breaking up the hit on the motor by only .1 seconds (250 wet/100 dry and also tried 200 wet/150 dry and burned the same plug again) and running two 15 lb bottles to keep the pressure up and she was running pretty rich in the 10's on the afr with 18 degrees timing.

And i've run a 300 shot through her for at least 30 passes i'd say w/o any problems, but wanted to go faster which is why I tried the 350 and found the distribution problem and now goin to the fogger.

I'm planning on using a progressive with the new setup and gonna come out of the hole @ 50% and ramp to 100% within the 60' to try and help keep the front end down some.

So far i've been lucky and haven't had a problem with lifting the heads (knocks on wood), but i'm curious what kind of compression the guys that are having the problems lifting the heads are running, wondering if my fairly low compression is saving me being @ only 11.3:1.

I remember Next was trying to do such a thing and ended up lifting the heads. I'm interested in trully what they can take. These new aftermarket blocks with the extra head bolts should really up the ante. Should be interesting.

Well if the block is o ringed and your on a copper gasket with 1/2 head studs then lifting the heads is no longer an issue.Ive talked to a few people including W2W and they all say once your o ringed with copper gaskets you won't have the liften heads issue anymore.

racing every week for a whole season, I dunno if more then 300 will be a real good idea...maybe with the lsx or world block you could probably get into teh 400 to 500 range, but even then, it's a crap shoot if it will stay together for 100 passes without a failure.

All it takes is one noid to stick, a bad plug or something in a fuel jet or something and you can have a problem, big problem at that level. Brad's a perfect example.. injector went bad, no way of knowing that is gonna happen, and look at what happened.
