Default info on refill stations

I am about to get fed up with refilling my bottle at shops that close at 5pm around here and just get my own refill kit.

what all is needed?? i am looking at a zex refill kit or a nitrous outlet kit..with the pump and all..

how much does it cost to rent and refill the "big" bottle usually?

is there a scale or how do you know how much you have filled the bottle it doesnt look like the kit comes with a pressure gauge?

any help would be appreciated. thx aaron

You need to call local industrial gas suppliers and ask about nitrous+. Prices vary from region to region for whatever reason. I pay about $2.50/lb. and the bottle rental cost about $18/mo. I don't save tons of money, but the conveniance factor pays for itself. I run my bottles down to 5lbs. and just refill them.

It's not necessary to use a pump, I have absolutely no problems with just putting my bottles in the freezer and filling them once cold. Most of the shops around here fill them this way as well.

I got a digital scale from EBay for about $50, the pump I got from Nitro Dave (Nitrous Outlet). I went with the NX pump. You also need a shop compressor and a regulator (if the shop compressor does not have one) for 100 PSI.

I need to get the mother bottle(s) contract w a gas company in May, and I will be up and running.

I pay about 2.30 per pound Plus one for the freeze and fill method. I use my shitty assed bathroom scale. My rental is only 60$ per year. 18$ per month is robbery. You can by a freezer and a couple extra bottles for half the cost of a filling station pump. I have four 15# bottles so im never in a bind to get a new mother bottle or getting a bottle frozen.

is it pretty safe and simple to go without a fill station?
how many lbs can you get into your 15lb bottle by doing the straight transfer?
what size is your fill bottle and can you get all of the nitrous out of it? or do you need a heater, compressed air, or something else to force out the nitrous at some point?

Its very safe
I usualy overfill my bottles by at least one pound so getting a good fill has never been an issue for me. its very important to get the host bottle as cold as possible
nothing extra is needed. You do not want to heat the mother bottle it will cause more of the liquid to become a vapor.
there have been a lot of threads about this over the years i search would do wonders on this
