Default what should i shoot for for compression ratio

plan on spraying a big shot on the new motor soon, getting ready to get my heads, i plan on pump gas in the tank with race fuel in a stand alone fuel system when i do spray the motor.

my question is should i try to get my cr as high as i can on pump gas, or should i keep the compression down slightly. i dont plan i giving it the hit all at once, it will be progressively controlled.

thanks for the help

ya, ill definately put some race gas in there if im spraying all 300 ponies through it, i should have said that, but i just want to make sure setting it up for the typical high compression pump gas motor is fine if im going to throw that much nitrous with race gas at it

just trying to figure out what i want my compression to be so i can order my heads

that said i would say with a nitrous tune with lower timming 12-1 is about as high as i would go with pump gas, and even they you may bea tad high. 11.5 is probably mint for street use and making good na power

are you ordering heads, pistions ect?
if so you are better off imo to make compresion with the pistions rather then cutting the heads. these cars needall the deck surface they can get once you start making big power

already have flat tops with -2cc reliefs, i am studding the heads and praying to god that there is enought meat on them bad boys to hold up, but im probably going with a shitty head to spray because there isnt a ton of meat on them, but im going to give it a shot.

dont want to say my setup because there are a few people on here that i dont want to know my setup so i guess ill keep that quiet

yep, that's why I stayed at 11.25:1 on my new motor. i wanted to be sure it was still a good street ride without worry and we can't get 93 octane around here like some parts of the country.

well, good luck. be sure to get a good head gasket, and id recomend the copper spray on them to help seal it up.
good luck.

robert, when is the new setup done?

Just waiting basically on the high tensile strenght ARP head studs. the short block is done and heads are ready. can't wait, as I am sure you understand, waiting on your new trick set-up to be finished.

If you are going to run NA on pump gas I wouldn't go over 11.5:1. There is a local guy with a 15:1 CR motor and its setup for a 250 shot but it won't run on pump gas NA and its also got the block and heads Oringed.

my new setup will be about 14.5-1, but race gas only.
