Default New to nitrous......

Hello all,
Just ordered my first kit due to the great sale from nitro dave's!!! Got the plate kit and the freebies, and lastly a FPSS!! I have a couple questions now that I cant seem to find a direct answer to....Im going to do a 150shot maybe only a 100...So....
What spark plug should I use? And gap?

Should I pull out any timing? How much?

Anything else I should know before I hit the button?

Thanks

Dont get scared! I just did my 75 shot today. Awsome! I have not messed with the timing yet but not going to go any more before i find out for sure. One guy on here said he was doing a 200 shot on stock timing. My car means to much to me to go that big.

I am going to be spraying for the first time as well. I am going with a 150 shot and wanted to know what I need to change to run that shot on the engine without blowing anything up.

Stock timing on a stock motor will handle a 150 shot all day long. Now for the ones that have had tunes I would check and see what timing you are running because most tuners advance the timing on N/A tunes and that could lead to problems. Usually u take about 2 degrees out for every 100 hp. Tr-6 plugs are what i prefer. Others prefer Autolites its just personal choice. And I would gap at about .035. Hope this helps.

I disagree with this statement somewhat. We just put a kit on my buddys car, a 98 TA. His car stock was runnign 28 degrees of timing up top, and knocking like crazy without the spray, just the factory tune. We ended up at 18-19 degrees of timing up top before it was KR free. We got the motor running kr free at 23 -24 degrees, without the spray. So we ended up pulling 5-6 degrees up top. Just what i expierienced with the 98. A good rule of thumb is 2 degrees for every 50 HP like said above. Also, the TR6 plugs seemed to work great, with a .035 gap. Oh, we were also on 93 octane pump gas.

That car had problems already if it was knocking on a stock tune.

if it was me, I would pull timing, like I said earlier, a good rule of thumb is 2 degrees every 50 hp to be on the safe side. Also, MAKE SURE you have TR6 plugs in there, wiht a .035 gap

I sprayed 100 shot a number of times on the stock tune and didn't have any issues at all. From what I've read, the Nitrous Outlet jetting is a little on the rich side to keep it safe. With that said, I've now got 4 deg of timing pulled and am thinking about going 150, since I just got a clutch that can handle it. 100 shot should be fine on stock timing, but any more than that, I'd probably get a tune.

Good luck!

On the stock tune, I was good to 100 shot. Above that I pulled 3° and that worked to a 175 shot.

A handheld like a predator or logging with HPT or EFI live is helpful in determining what will work with your combo.
