Here in Rochester Mn nitrous is $6 bucks a lbs and i am thinking about buy a refill station and a mother bottle. I can't figure out where to get a mother bottle, like is it a welding tank, how big are they? I know there is a demand for nitrous here because it seems like when i go to have my bottles filled there are always out at the machine shop. What i don't get is in the twin cities its cheaper than down here in rochester. What is the going rate for nirtous? Any help is appreciated

yeah they're about six/seven feet tall,require a stand, you need a pump, an air compresser, lines & fittings. Your best bet would be to buy all that and then fill you friends bottles to cover the cost of your juice. I think it was $80 a month for the nexair guy to come get the empty and bring a new one.

The same with me , local shop at around $3 a pound.

The shop I go to just freezes the bottle and has a line from the mother bottle to your bottle. They dont use an air compressor where I go.

I'm getting mine from Linde, It ends up being a lil over $100 for a 80lb clyinder. Thats after 2 it passes through 2 ppls hands, so im sure its really only $60-80. I would say get the fill station if you already got a compresser, and you got some friends that you couls sell to. Just make sure you can get the nitrous before you buy it. Call all the area Welding supply/Gas supply places, Ask for "Nytrol Plus" thats the name for nitrous with sulfur dioxide added.

Like others said, you really dont need a fill station a small freezer and a few fittings, ball valves, lines, and scale is all you need to do the freeze/fill method. I have a few friends that do it this way, and have had alot of sucsess. I dont have any personal experience so i'll leave it to someone else to explain it further.

i was looking into this also...ive got a deep freeze and normally can get a bottle full by freezing before filling...plus i dont like my bottles 10 or more pressure drops too fast...

i was looking into getting like 2 big tanks

you really don't need an air compressor if you know how to gravity feed a bottle.

i don't know exactly how it's done, because i've never done it before, but it can be done without a compressor. I guess the compressor actually adds air instead of n20 if you don't do it right.


Whatever you do, remember it's n20, not n02 like most of the dumbfuck shops around here call it. I always go in asking for nitrOUS oxide and walk out with what is apparently nitrIC oxide lol.

Nitrous is really the same as gasoline as far as prices go... they differ by where you live from what I've seen. Some places charge way more than here (AZ), others way less to the point I feel like I'm getting ripped off but either way you gotta pay to play so **** it!

So i called the place that distrubute NOS in my area and they told me that that the only place in town is where i get my bottle filled. Well the other day i asked the owner of the machine shop how much he makes per pound and he told me he makes $.25. What a liar the supplier told me its $230 bucks for 65lbs of liquid NOS. Well i took those numbers and divided them by eacother and come out to $3.50. Well if i sell my nitrous for 4.75 a pound i would make $78.75 and if i sold it for $5 bucks a pound it would be a profit of $95. I knew i was getting ripped off! At $6 bucks a pound the machine shop is making $160 bucks ona 65 pound bottle.

do a google for "airgas" on their home page you can check your city for their local outlet or call their home office for local outlet,( OR COSTAL WELDING SUPPLE, but they are about 20 percent higher) in my neck of the woods from "airgas"( airgas will only delever to a bussnes address) I pay 95. per year rent on 60 # bottle and 110. per fill about 60#
need a extra bottle nut to connect mother bottle,(10.) 2 short lines ,(20-25.00) a filter,(25.-40.00) a freezer/icebox (use the one in house) to chill your receiver bottle,a digital scale about 35-40 # ( on ebay 10.00 +10.-15.00 shipping) a rope to hang the bottle upside down
chill your receiver 2-3 hours or over night, watch your scale as bottle will over fill.

and your good to go

I just joined this forum and hey I realize this is an old thread. But it hit home since I am the machine shop owner that Transam69230 called a liar. I am the only seller of nitrous in Rochester MN. I buy my gas from Praxair on 3rd Ave SE and last week I paid $289.71 for the gas and a mandatory hazardous materials charge of $8.95 for a total of $298.66. I drive eight miles to pick up this cylinder. I have a Nitrous Express refill station that cost me about $1000.00 by the time I added the necessary hoses and air filter/regulator to run it. I also have a $250.00 electronic scale to insure the customer gets what he pays for. I have never been able to get more than 58 pounds of product from these cylinders. Some is lost everytime we do a fill to purge lines and fill the pump etc. We still sell the nitrous for $6.00 a pound. So do the math and you will see I am not 'making bank' as trans........ would have you believe. I am in the business and should be able to make a little money and thats what this is, a very little money.
