Don't: halfass your install. Having a ghetto looking install is only asking for trouble.
This is for the install, I just went through this. I hope to be spraying soon.
There are seldom any problems with the mechanical installations. (assuming you're not a gorilla and have basic wrenching skills). It's always the electrical that causes problems. Take a minute and read it. It (hopefully) will save you many hours of diagnosing and countless bottles of aspirin.

Don't rush the install. I'm doing my install in two parts; electrical and hardware. I'd suggest doing something similar, that way you have a clear head when starting the second half
I highly recommend testing your connections as you go along. A home-made test light comes in very useful for this! You'll save a huge headache if you do this. It royally sucks to install an arming switch, push button, fpss, WOT switch, window switch, etc...and then the solenoid won't click on when it should be. It's a lot easier to narrow down the problem if you don't do everything at once and skip testing
Don't skimp on safety devices! They are well worth the money!
Don't over-torque the hardware. They need to be tight and secure, but not TOO tight and secure

As for things to do and not do...
Do make sure that you have the car tuned for the biggest shot you will run, and don't think that because a plate/maf/single nozzle CAN spray 200, or 250 or whatever that it is safe... anything over 150 should be done via a directport, the intake will not evenly distribute the nitrous like a DP will
for saftey i reccomend a fuel pump, even morse so if you have heads and cam. as for the install there is 2 ways of doing it, back door mod or dropping the tank. i prefer dropping of the tank.
