Default Can paintball CO2 bottles be used for nitrous?

I've got a bunch of aluminum 20 oz. CO2 bottles for paintball in my garage. These would actually be perfect for hiding in my car. I know they sell nitrous bottles in that size but I already have these. I know the fittings would be different, but would they work?

No. there's been tons of discussions on using different bottles, but since the Search really sucks on here now, I'll give you the run down.
1. It's illegal to fill bottles with substances other than what's marked (at least that's what several people on here had wrote in so you may want to look this one up where you are)
2. There's no tube. N2o bottles have a tube to the bottom so it only sucks up liquid, not gas.
3. The fittings are all wrong.

OK...so IF:

1. Filling them with nitrous was not illegal here.
2. The bottles are positioned upside down so there is no need for a siphon tube, and
3. There was some type of adapter avalable to make the fittings work...

Then would the CO2 bottles work? Basically curious if the bottle itself is able to handle the pressure. Was thinking of daisy-chaining 3 or 4 bottles upside down on the bulkhead behind my seat. (corvette)

If you are wondering basically the pressure that the bottles could hold.
The c02 bottles will handle filling them up with N2O. Anything that is pressurized gas is pressurized gas.

As for if you have a odd bottle pressure when hitting, and if they can handle it there.
Not sure, if you do this you will have to keep us informed.

And if you can find some adapter to work, and upside down. yes.....

hope that helps

You can get siphon tubes for those co2 bottles... very common for people who use co2 markers in cold weather. They also have a burst valve so if you see some outrageous pressure, the valve will burst instead of the bottle and relieve all pressure. Then all you do is put the valve back in.

LOL! I have a 10 lb bottle and also a 2.5 lb bottle. The space in my car is severely limited (as far as hiding the bottles goes) and the 20 oz. paintball tanks fit great. I'd need about 4 of them for it to be useable. I know they make paintball tanks in 20 oz. but they are way to expensive to go and buy 4 of them.

There are small bottles made specifically for nitrous.....Also, its gonna take a LOT of 20 .oz bottles to make a difference in your car.

You could add a siphon tube to a paintball tank VERY easily. All you need is a 3/16'' compression fitting and 3/16'' copper tubing.

Luxfer makes some 17 Cubic feet carbon fibre bottles for paintball.

If were you I could shoot for converting a 45 Cubic feet scuba tank. Might as well. Think about it. You can get 40% Oyxgen with a nitrox cert in rec diving and cops can't say you are using it for your car.

I haven't tried it but thought about it.

Interesting idea. The scuba tank idea has been shot down many times before though.
