Default Safe amount of N20 for my Z06...

I have an intaked on my 03 Z06 and 15k on the clock. I got a really good deal on some giggle gas. What is a safe amount to get good longevity and power. Thanks for all your help

Safe amount is gonna depend on your tune for the spray? I know guys spraying 200+ on a stock shortblock and have no issues.

100 shot here.. 20 or so bottles on a 100, 000 miles + on the motor. but like mentioned above, get the extra's to make it safe.

The mighty LS6 can take a 200 shot very easily. Been there done that, along with count less others. You just have tomake sure your tune is conducive to larger hits. Do a search of my name and you will get some insight into how far you can push the ls6/Z06, much farther than most cars and still live a long life.

Let robert point you in the right direction, the man knows his ****. I think 150 is your magic number, but i thats the conservative side of me speaking. with the right tune you can spray in the 200's for extended periods of time.

Watch for lean fuel conditions though. May need more fuel pressure if wet and/or larger injectors if your going to spray dry. This depends on size of shot...

The safe mark is a 150 shot. There are guys that have sprayed 200 pluss but remember you asked for safe... its 150

Make sure you have enough fuel and if you have custom tunning you may need to remove some timming.

I agree with Dave, 150hp for basic install, low worries... I run 150 on my zo6 and never any issues... You might invest in an a/f switch just in case

What a 150rwhp shot is to a LS1, a 200 is to a LS6. I ran 200/250 the last couple season with no issues. The stock Z06 Walbro fuel pump will easily go to 550rwhp for most, and upwards of 700hp with some add ons. My buddy is currently running 680rwhp stock pump with a BAP, no fuel issues. I have run 550rwhp plus on stocker. Now if going dry, you need to upsize the injectors for the big hits. With any size shot we must make sure the tune is correct though, and that can be a killer going big if off. By the way, check the Z06 Fast List at vetteforum, see how many stock block cars are in the top 10 area, and spraying, most close to 200 or so. These motors are brutes, been there done that. After a few hundred sprayed passes, I finally found where my ls6 would fail, a 285rwhp shot, and only because the tune was off. This was on a dyno. Good luck on what ever size you choose, but don't be afraid to push the mighty LS6.

Correct me if im wrong. There is no difference to the bottom end other than cam between a LS1 and LS6..

The LS based motors use Hyperutectic pistons, and the stock rods are ok but not the best.

The manufacture rating on Hyperutectic pistons are a 150 shot. This is why we call is a SAFETY point... It does not mean that you can not go past that safety point and it will not take it. It just means if you go past that point you have excedded the manufactures suggested safety point and you are taking a risk. There are alot of LS based guys spraying 200. Some have let go doing so. Some have taken the beating and kept on ticking. Just because it worked out for you does not mean that is the new safety zone and the manufactures have no idea what they are talking about.

Remember he asked What is the safety point.... Not how much can I throw at this thing and hope it lives.

150 is safe i sprayed my ls1 (same bottum end) with a 150 for a long long time finally gave up on a 250 went lean.

haha good example of when safe becomes boring and you up the jets!!!

As i stated before 150 is sort of the ls1 industry norm for "safe". Judging from your milage you dont seem like the kind of guy that is beating down on your car and probably take good care of it. All of which makes me want to say you can up the jets to 175-200 with the right upgrades and proper tune. "safe" really is an illusion and can vary upon vehicles. One guy can have a 150 shot blow the motor while the guy next to him runs a 250 shot for years. there are various levels of safe and there really is no defined number. start out with a 100 shot and see how you like it, then go from there.

My responce to safe is off of manufacture suggestions for what the parts are rated to handle.

My opinion is that the motors SHOULD take more if maintained properly and the tune up is accurate. So I agree with Robert in the opinion that they will normaly take more than the Manufactures suggested safe level.

I guess I just like to make sure the people starting out understand at what level they are exceding the manufacturer suggested ratings for safety. This keeps them having fun and not walking. As they start to gain knowledge and want to explore further they understand alittle more what to expect and that they may be taking a chance.

First, we are not trying to disprove or invalidate anyones input. Input given is solid advice, in it's proper context. Those that actually run a Z06 may have valuable insight that others have not gleaned.

For those that don't know, the LS6 is much, much more than a LS1. It's the whole package that allows a Z06/LS6 to live with a 200 as a camaro/LS1 with a 150. To tell the whole story would take pages, so do the research on the mighty Z06/Ls6. I actually race the Z06 and have pushed the LS6 to it's absolute boundaries, and race with other Z06s. I maintain the National Authorized C5/Z06 Fast list over at vetteforum. I know what works and what people are running and what is successfull. So, the bottom line, if ya want to wear a skirt well then stick with a safe 150, but if ya want to man up, the Z06/LS6 platform will work wonders with a properly tuned 200 shot. If your a little worried, split the hit up into dual stage, 150 out of the hole, then add 50more in the higher RPMs or wait till 2nd gear. You could even start with a 100 shot until your used to it and move up as ya feel comfortable, then when ready for a 200shot and handing out some azz kicking from a stockish car...

my 03 z is stock i run 125 dry on it. no tune no nothing. if i didnt have my race car and needed the z06 faster i would not be afraid to hit it with 200 with the right upgrades and tuning.

for what its worth, i know the ls1 and 6 pretty well, and the ls6 is a better motor no question about it. not sure i would call it stronger do to the parts are pretty much the same, but the block itself is better, more cooling, better oiling ect ect and that may help it hang in a bit better
