Default 125 shot question

I did a search but really didnt find the answer i was looking for. Basically found answers for stock timing. I had my car tuned n/a on a 113 degree day in az after driving 45 mins out to the place and remember the tuner saying the car wasnt taking a lot of timing due to heat and crap gas (91 octane is all we can get out here). I contacted my tuner and he said pull 4 degrees of timing for a 100 shot, didnt tell me what my timing was at. I dont know if he knew i was running tr6s now. My question is if your car isnt knocking at all n/a and i swapped out to tr6's on 91 octane gas and 3 degrees pulled will i have issues on a 125 shot?

Well, your tuner is following the old school rule of thumb, as well as trying to be on the safe side to keep your motor together. If you were using 93octane or better I would say go for it, but log it since each car can be a bit different. On 91 though I'd be logging from a 75 shot up to your desired 125 to see what the car is doing.
Go ahead and pull the 3 degrees and try the different jettings, starting small of course.

Maybe i'll just run a 100 shot with the 3 degrees pulled for now until i do a cam then i'll have him fix the tune unless he says its only a couple dollars to load in lower timing ratios. Then i'll have him pull 2 or 3 degrees and let my interface pull the rest

ok shop i'm going to have pull the car on a dyno is going to check the timing on the car. What should my n/a timing read max...i will be pulling 3 degrees out for a 100 shot and for a 125 shot if need be. So basically i'm asking if it says i'm running 26 would 23 degrees be good for a 125 shot? if it reads 28 would 25 be good for a 100 or 125 shot? Again 91 octane tr6 plugs

because why would you even pull timing on that? Usually LS1's are good till you try to go over 150.

Well if its like a max N/A tune, sure. But if not there isnt any reason to pull timing out.

Sure we all could have roll cages in our car to be safe, but the truth is we all aren't going to roll.

yea i see what your saying, but his car is in emmaculate condition. he is just trying to be VERY careful. which is understandable in my opinion. I have experience. hes still tryin to get a straight timing answer.

well its not like what I say will affect his decision but heres my .02

Safe(ist), a little less HP (pull the timing)

Safe, more aggressive leave the timing

Since its his baby, he should pull the timing. But if you drive it like your suppose to (which is....like you stole it) go aggressive!

if stock is 26, and his is more agressive, then I would just put it back to stock. assuming his fuel pump is up to the job

I think anywhere from 24-26 and he would be safe for a 100 shot.

If he has the interface he can pull an additional 3-4 degress of timing, so in all reality he could leave his timing as long as it is around 27-28 and just use the interface when he sprays.
