Default Strange Things

I ran my car w/the NXL kit for the first time today and hand some very strange things happen. To make a long story short: Running the NXL kit w/180 pills but Maximizer II was only shooting 50% shot. I programmed for 50% (90 shot) because I have not yet installed my timing tuner. At the top end of the track, my engine actually started to sputter and then shut down. Fortunately I could still steer . Dash lit up and the Service Engine light came on.

After I pulled over the car started just fine and I drove back to the staging lane. The same thing happened the second run. After I lowered the hit to 30% the engine didn't die but I still had the funky dash behavior and the Service Engine light. Should I attribute this behavior to the lack of timing retard?

I am not sure what your exact problem was....do you know what the A/F ratio was?

One issue I do see is setting the Maximizer to 50% is NOT a 90 shot....it is a 180 shot 50% of the time. The 50% is the length of time the solenoid is open, it does not reduce the power you make when the solenoid is open.

Maybe from what Ray stated about the 50% you had the nitrous on for half your run and the last half of your run you went pig rich and flooded?

Do you have any fuel upgrades?
When the car started to shut down was this after then run was over or in the middle of the run.
I was never fond of the nxl kit. Not many that used it are. Do you have the accumator?

First dp kit I sprayed It shut the engine off after the run was over. The fuel was off the chart. Dialed the a/f and it never did it again.

You will not see 180 hp on a dyno with a controller set to 50% but the above statement is true.

Good point. I didn't realy think of it that way. That would definitley be an issue with no timing adjustments.

I have a log of my runs with the A/F but I left it on my laptop thats at the office. I'll have to download them tomorrow.

The car started to cut out and shut down close to the end of the run, I was just shifting into 3rd. No I don't have an accumulator.

I did dyno it, and at 50% it showed just over 90hp gain.

I am not saying it won't reduce the power the car sees to the wheels.

What I am saying is that it is not the same as jetting the car for 90hp and running the controller at 100%

Running a progressive is just like flipping the master arm switch on/off...each time you turn it on you see the full power that you are jetted for, when it is off you see 0hp increase.

Progressive are designed for traction control not HP control.
