Default Nitrous regulator question

I've been contemplating the purchase of a Nano system and came across this Zex nitrous pressure regulator. I was wondering if you could get the same results (no pressure drop during a run) by turning up the bottle to pressure to say 1300 psi and set the regulator to 950 psi output. Would you be able to maintain the 950psi during a full pass? You would have to play with the starting pressure a bit but once figured out it should stay consistent. Is my thinking way off here? If this would work you could potentially get the same results of a Nano for less than half the price. The regulator is rated for a 500 shot so there shouldn't be any restrictions of flow.

Ok...I liked this product ALOT when it came out. But IMO it hasnt been tested (by us here at LS1tech) so I dont have any good feedback.

If it works as advertised...you could rejet your setup so it will run with alot less bottle pressure. Tehn use a heater to keep bottle pressure much higher than your "set pressure" on this regulator and if it works as advertised it would maintain a nice flow.

Will it be as good as NANO? I am not sure. Several tests would have to be performed.

Someone needs to buy this and test it. It it does what they claim...should be a viable product.

I think I may buy one by this weekend. I don't ever plan on spraying anything over a 200 shot on one of my cars so I probably won't be able to give it as good a test as you or Robert but it should be interesting. Do you know if there is sensor that I can hook up to my LM1 wideband so I can log the pressure during a run?

It sure does! I just checked their website and they're almost a direct match. I'll have to call them tomorrow as they custom build regulator for "non paintabll" applications and they can go up to 3000 psi. Thanks for the insight I was just ready to buy the Zex piece.

I would think the mentioned product would help maintain nitrous pressure, when the bottle has good pressure. I would doubt it would work as well as the Nano though, because the push system is actually forcing the nitrous out of the bottle.
