Default AFR LT4 195cc CNC Heads

DEAL PENDING. I HAVE REC'D A DOWN PAYMENT.
For my current 396 build I had to step up to AFR 210's, therefore I am selling my 195's. I am selling the heads bare. I would be open to negotiation on selling the low mileage springs/valves/locks etc. that came off them with only 1800 miles and 20 passes. The heads are freshly bead blasted and jet washed.

These heads were CNC'd by AFR and then had $600 worth of additional work done by my previous builder. I never got a final flow sheet from that builder, but with just the CNC work they flowed 286-288 cfm on the intake side at .600 lift and 210-213 cfm on the exhaust. Chambers are 58cc. I had 2.05/1.60 valves in them.

The heads had ~8000 miles of use on my 385 and then 1800 miles on my 396, not that it really matters since they are bare. The 385 motor with a Comp 306 cam and these heads put down 432/468 through a 4L60E and a 12 bolt. These heads would be totally rocking on a hot 355 or 383 LT4 and would be fine on a mild(er) 396 than what I am currently building.

Original invoice on them was $2450 (assembled from AFR) and as noted above I had $600 more invested in chamber and valve area work. The ports are untouched and CNC marks still plainly visible. I am therefore asking $1350 plus shipping.

Chamber volume? Intake Gasket part number? Do you have the actual AFR part number, because the flow numbers you mention dont match up to anything I can find on AFR's website.

Lastly, pm me your bottom dollar on just the castings...

Chambers are 58.4 cc (heads have been surfaced).

As far as the intake gasket, I used a GMPP LT4 "high port" gasket. EDIT: I pulled and checked the invoice. The GMPP gasket that fits perfectly is #12367777. IIRC, it was used on 1996 LT4 Corvettes. I have paperwork at home that I can check.

The flow numbers were obtained after the CNC porting. These heads were purchased new in 2001, and I think part numbers may have changed. I have original invoices and can check if it's important. My current builder threw one of the heads on his bench and did a very hurried check out of curiosity. He only flowed one port and just did it quickly and he got 282 cfm at .600 lift. That port was supposed to flow 286. His bench might be stingy plus he just threw it on there to get a quick number - he already thought we were not going to reuse them as we knew I needed bigger heads and bigger chambers.

Ahh, thanks for the info... But chambers are a bit too small for my stuff. FWIW, on my buddy's car, his Competition Port 195's required a Felpro 1206 intake gasket.

Thanks for the info and good luck on the sale!

Yeah, chambers are too small for my (new) build too. My new heads are 66 cc. Main thing, however, was my need for larger runners hence the increase to the 210's. We could lay back the chamber wall on these and bring the compression down, but I would have still had heads that were smaller than optimum for my new build. As I mentioned above, these heads worked great on my previous 385 LT4.

The GMPP gasket works perfectly (have already used a pair).

EDIT: Pulled up the invoice. The manifold gasket PN is 12367777

Thanks for the well wishes.

I can vouch for these heads. Worked very well! I helped install them more than once. Also tuned the car with these on it more than once.

If it werent for the chamber volume issue, I'd jump all over these... But the cost of getting the chambers opened up + having valves and springs installed/set up puts me over what I'm willing to spend on used heads.

I understand about being on a budget, but these heads are BETTER than when they were new. As you know, a cylinder head itself is not a wear item so when you figure that I had $600 worth of work done to them and the fact that they are as clean as new heads, this is a great deal. They are clean, clean, clean. Totally bead blasted and jet washed.

Understand the chambers are a little tight, but my 385 ran mean as hell with them. We just did a good and thorough job on the tune.

I am open to reasonable offers. PM me and we can discuss
