#1-you will not be able to give the car hardly any gas, your 60 ft will suck trying to ease off the line

#2-give it anymore throttle than in example #1 you will spin the tires

either way, your not gonna get some crazy launch like you would on drs or slicks. a car has to have sticky tires to get that power to the ground period!

no stickys=NO LAUNCH

hooking is hooking, if the car hooks on a high rpm launch, if it doesnt bog, if it doesnt stutter than that is a perfet launch and perfect launch=couldnt have been done any better. after the launch there is nothin you can do to improve your time other than getting all your shifts on the money. that is all there is, holding your breath wont help your times, driving with one eye closed wont help it either.

thats all im spent lol

Its all on how u warm up the tires and how well you know how the car acts when launching

I drove my buddy's bone stock 99 ss a couple months ago on street tires and was down in the 1.96 range on the fist hit in the car. and I drove a stock 04 GTO last year and went 1.99 on stock 245's.. Sub 2.0's are not even an issue if you know how to drive. Let either me or Tim drive your car lol I pulled a 1.62 with my vette on completely bald 3 year old weather checked 275/40/17 dr's lol

charlie, i will most def let you drive my car...but you have to let me drive yours. you dont have to let me take it to pir just a cruise down the freeway and yes im talking about the 416 vette. im not sdayin everyone is lieing about this street tire thing, but you cant just make slick tires stick to the track. i will say it maybe be possible at other tracks to get a sub 2.0 but its a pretty tall order at pir. if my car is built, it has drs, and it hooks at 4k withoutn bogging or spinning than it doesnt make sense for a stock car to ghet the same 60 as me. i know how to launch and IMO im pretty decent at it
so...when do i get to drive the vette?

Also have too low of air pressure will hurt even more, esp with 17" wheels and bigger, gotta find that sweet spot. Plus suspension setup has a HUGE deal with hooking.

yes your right and i have experimented withvall variations of tire psi. the thing is my 60 fts should not be as close as they are to charlie and tim. if they are getting these sorts of times on regular tires than i should be cutting 1.6-1.7 60s. im not climing to be some sort of great drag racer but i know how to launch my car, im not always very consistantv but when i get a good launch it means it couldnt have been any better by anyone else. m ycar launches perfect at 4000 rpm at that rpm it does not spin(if the track is warm) i dont bog and i dontstutter the tires or go off to the side. when i do it right i really do it right! the car deadhooks and gos like a raped ape. given the mods of my car and the HP/TQ numbers it puts down compared to a bone stock car...i shouldnt even be close to their times, i should def be at least 2 or 3 tenths better on my 60s. its just the way it is, so if someone can explain to me why im only one tenth better when i have a a spohn TQ arm, sticky tires, about 130+ more HP on a stock fbody that is running shitty tires and a good launch on my part?

do you guys understand what i mean? does what i said maken sense to you guys? im not saying that anyone is full of **** but there is something wrong with my car or something else is going on

My best with my camaro on stock motor set up was a 1.7 60ft. you have to race more then once a year at pir to know what marks to get on when getting to the tree and tire pressure and weight transfer is key and its all on how you use the clutch. alot of people think that if i drive a auto i cant drive a 6speed lol and joey not to be mean but alot of times driver mods help.

it all takes practice and a **** load of runs down the quarter to get good time's.

get your car done man and come down and play at the track we still gotta race

Well I have to agree with joe a just a bit. But Joe maybe your car doesn't have the low end to actually pull you hard enough to that 60ft. Anything after that it's all power. Just my .02
P.S not saying it's not possible. I know Tim is a great driver.. Well not better then me

You also say you been having problems with your clutch. Maybe it's slipping just that little bit were you can't notice. If that's possible..lol

Haaahaaa...yup. I got it to 125 today then backed off because of a semi. I want to burry the needle bad. I've actually been thinking of selling the Bird here soon. Day's like today make me want to keep it though. I think I just need to drive it more and not worry about getting it wet I think I might do some AI LS6 heads this coming fall/winter if I decide to hold on to it. It would be a beast then.
