On the mustang dyno it put down 489hp/438 tq but the best MPH Ive gotten out of it so far is 119mph . The car weighs about 3900lbs with me in it.

bought the hurson speed hotside from a friend. in the mist of picking up lunati rods right now. Been talking to thompson about a custom set of diamond 3.8 pistons.

debating on a clutch right now. Monster Twin LT1-SC rated at 1000hp. for $1500 or mc leod street twin rated at 1200hp for 1100. . I found a sale thread where the monster was $1200 last year. Thinking ill wait till black friday to pull the trigger on a clutch though.

Either way, looks like im dropping a lil over a grand in a clutch

I got that same clutch for my Tahoe project, except mine has the less aggressive disks. Wish I could give you some feedback but it's not installed quite yet. I'd go with the Monster over the Mcleod unit IMO.

That is about right for that weight and power level. Pretty stout numbers too. Whats been done to it?

What made you go with such a radical clutch for the tahoe?
yeah theres great feedback on mc leod. I think Thsts what I'm going to end up with, specially since it's $500 cheaper. I can buy the lunati rods with thr price difference

With a 5000lb curb weight and 400-420rwhp, I needed something that will hold up. Should drive real nice with this setup though. Picked up the Monster for just over a grand with a speed bleeder.

The LT1-SC is rated at 1000 rwhp starts at $1,299... the McLeod is rated at the crank. Where did you get that pricing from?

from you. I just checked my email for your quote. It was $1550 shipped, but I didnt realize you quoted for the LT1-R.

Im copying a friends build in his corvette. forged 5.3 with a 7675. he made 700 wheel on pump, 900 on race gas, with no change in timing. stock manifold and TB with a cracked head. He switched to AFR 210s and a tick turbo cam, so im waiting to see what the new numbers are. Im sure with those mods and timing it should break 1k wheel. Hes running an ACT twin disk I believe, cant remember which one.

I had planned on just copying his, then saw the mc leod for 1050 shipped for their 1200hp twin disk one. Then when I saw that thread that was bumped and how much you went out of your way to help the guy having clutch issues, i was shocked that anyone would go out of their way that much to help on a 2 year old product out of warrenty. Then started talking to you about the monster twins. I still dont know the difference bwteen your LT1-SC and normal stage 2 twin disk though? :/

I sold my built corvette to have a large chunk down to put on a house, but set aside 9k to throw into my fbody roller. So im not pressed on buying anything right now and waiting till black friday/christmas unless something killer comes up

I just know right now that the setup im going for will be around 700-900 wheel. and I dont want to spend 1200-1500 on a clutch now, then end up wanting to make another 100-200whp, and havin to sell the clutch and get spend 1500-2000 on one after. So Im wanting one overkill now so I dont have to worry.

I remember our emails, I said then and I'll say now - the McLeod you're looking at doesn't have a flywheel and will not hold 1,200 rwhp. When I discuss hp/tq ratings for my clutches it's to the tires in a 4k lbs car, any other rating is pixy dust b.s. That said, our LT1-SC is rated to and will hold 1,000 rwhp without issue, more than that can be done, but, we like to see guys step up to the R if they're that serious.

All that said 700-900 rwhp is a huge gap, adding 100-200 to that puts you at 800-1100 which isn't 1200 rwhp, so, the SC will work.

There are a TON of differences between the Level 2 green billet twin and the SC, namely plate load, bearing load, lift, release, overall size, overall diameter, frictions, discs, diaphragm springs, etc. it's a apples-to-chicken nuggets comparison.

I would recommend the SC for what you're describing above, the $1,299.99 price comes with a flywheel, clutch pack, alignment tool, pilot bearing, release bearing, all hardware, and a 12 month warranty no matter how you drive it. You're not getting that from any other clutch company.

If you want to go over this in more detail shoot me an email.

It has: PRC as cast 225cc heads 62cc , Fast 102mm intake (port matched) , 92mm TB , 100mm maf w/screen, Vmax 92 to 102 tapered ring,LS3 injectors, Manton 11/32 pushrods, Morel street lifters, FTI 231/239 113+3 custom cam , ATI -NON underdrive damper ,Dynatech 1 3/4" headers, 3" custom catted mids, borla 2.5" exhaust , Monster level 2 clutch w/ lightweight billet flywheel.

Everything else is stock so I've got some chassis work to do . I'd like to get my 60ft down in the 1.60's.

I pulled the tranny out today. I'm pretty sure it has a broken 3rd gear blocker ring. I have a mgw shifter without stops and i'm not sure if this contributed to the failure or not....Anyone have experience with this?

Just picked up a fully prepped 408 for my Chevelle build, so I'm offering up some my other items I've been saving.

Complete LQ4, 2002, with 317 heads. All stock. Does not have a starter, and I'm keeping the coil packs. I have the heads off as well so you can check out the bores, which are in nice shape. This has 89k miles on it. $800

Patriot stage 2 heads, 5 axis cnc ported, 72cc chambers. I'm waiting on exact valve size and spring specs from the person I just picked these up from. They are in very nice shape. They flow 300 @ .600. A nice step up from stock 317's. $800

I have an A&A intercooler setup as well off a C5 Corvette. High end piece that I'll let go for $750

Thanks,
Corey

98 is not a good pcm.
99-00 Fbody will be SVC # 0896 and is good.
01-02 May also be the same. Or could be an 0411.
The diff between these two is the operating system. But if going for boost, you use a custom OS anyway

Well I sold my Camaro this weekend. Kind of sad but it was just sitting in my garage for the last year or so and that wasn't really doing me any good. Now I can focus a bit more on my LS swap in the El Camino

I'm still getting all the parts I need but at least mocked up everything seems to fit and look like it should

Well if you didn't have any emotional attachment to the Camaro then sometimes its better to take a step backward before you can move forward.

Engine looks good. When is the swap?

I thought I'd like the Camaro more but after using it as a daily driver for 4 years I'd had enough and replaced it with a pretty cool S10 SS. The El Camino was my first car and I've had it since 2000 so all my emotions are tied up in it. I'm hoping the swap will start soon, I've got almost all the parts to do a mockup of the install and get things going but its a huge project (engine, trans, rear and brakes) and I'm trying to break it into smaller sections so I don't lose focus or get overwhelmed.

Here's the build thread
