Default Failed Smog

Ran the Camaro through smog and failed the "HC" at idle (261 should be >220)
I'm not sure were in Datamaster it gives me the proper cell to change in my Tunercats software? I just need to lean it out a little more to pass. Hey Ellis are you up yet.

Believe it or not, take out your air filter. If it just barely failed that will usualy do the trick.

It's a K&N and clean that shouldn't change anything at idle would it!! I only drove about 10 miles on the freeway and the engine temp was about 210. I could bump the temp up to 225 and drive the crap out of it to get it real hot. I would like to lean it out a little at idle just to be sure it passes.

Well took the car back thru Friday with a little leaner tune and a good 30 mile trip down I5. It failed again. Now I guess I'll have to put alcohol in and wire a manual switch up to the air pump and get this done. My log file shows it's lean so maybe my cats not working.

To follow up on the Thread I put 1 gal of alcohol to about 4 gal of gas and it passed. It droped the Hc from 260 to 210 and this was on the same machine 4 days apart. Does alcohol work yes if your real close to passing anyway. Maybe using less gas would help more but that did the trick.

what is this smog you people speak of? hehehe j/k mine should be legal, it passed in cali when the previous owner had it.

does removing all the emissions stuff make any gains in power? im adding headers soon, and will be removing cats, air pump, and probably ac. will i run into any code issues?
