Default Tastin' N' Racin'

Calling all Pontiacs!!! (now open to all GM makes - we still have tickets and parking space if you show up at XXX at 8:30 tomorrow AM.)

Northwest Legends is planning events for 2011 and this is the first one on the calendar. I'm spreading the word. It's still early, but we'd like to get an idea of how many might be interested.

Tastin' N' Racin' - Show and Shine plus Picnic and Hydroplanes!
Saturday, June 11, 2011
Lake Sammamish State Park, Issaquah, WA
Cost through Northwest Legends club: $5 for Adults, $2.50 for Children 6-16 and Seniors 65+.

8:30am - Meet at XXX Rootbeer on Front Street to get your club discount ticket.
9:00am - Drive to park and park on the grass near the main stage for all to see.
9:00am-5:30pm - Relax and enjoy the day of Pontiacs, Music, Food, Friends, and Hydroplane races!
5:30pm - Pack it up. We must have the grass clear by 6pm by park rule.

We will need as good a head count as possible to get enough tickets. Please post up with how many will be attending(cars and people), and which age group of tickets you will need.

For those who know the park, we'll be parking on the grass on the South side of the pit access road across from the Main Stage.

Edit - Here's the list of live bands that will be playing during the day:
Jimmy Vegas (Jimmy Buffet Clone)
Knee Deep (90's and later Rock & Roll)
Platinum Spandex (80's "Big Hair" Rock)
RAIL (70's & 80's Rock)
Prism (Pink Floyd Tribute)

I'm happy to hear there's some interest. We'll see who else pops into the thread as time passes. I'll keep the thread updated if anything changes.

Don't we all wish we could predict the weather in June.

Just a friendly bump. I'll give it a bump at least monthly as it draws near.

We now have tickets in hand. Pre-sales will be distributed at our club meetings on May 7th and June 4th (5pm - Great American Casino in Tukwila). I can also sell from my home until the May meeting(at which point I'll be handing it off to one of the club officers). PM me to make arrangements.

I added a band list to the OP. It's a month away now and time to start confirming attendance and purchasing tickets.

We just made a last minute change to who is eligible. We wanted to give the Pontiacs first go at tickets, but since it looks like we'll have plenty of tickets to spare, we're opening it up to all GM brands. Chevy, Buick, Olds, Cadillac, come on down!!!

Also, the weather report for Saturday is lookin' better every day! Mostly sunny and 70* last time I checked.

Conditions are optimal. Good ground to park on. Weather report is upper 60's and mostly sunny. Couldn't ask for better! Here's a map of how to get from the Triple X to the park, just in case you miss the caravan.

It was an enjoyable day. Jose was there early at the Triple X and called us down for some fresh coffee/chocolate and pastries on the house before we headed over to the park! He's one heck of a great guy. All but one of the people who came stayed 'till 4pm or later. The bands were surprisingly good - and one of the 80's bands came over to get pictures with Jeff's 80's Firebird. They also loved my plates - apparently the drummer's stage name is Goat. We got lots of compliments on our cars. People were stopping and checking them out all day long. The sun stayed hidden 'till around 4pm - but that was fine as I got a little sun burned as it was. The hydros were loud and the racing intense. They even had two unlimited turbine hydros there testing boats for Seafair.

Those who missed out, missed a great time.

Pat
