Consider: SVT boss Hau Thai-Tang has stuffed the extraordinary 5.4-liter, dohc, 32-valve supercharged V8 from the Ford GT sports car under the Mustang’s hood. Final horsepower figures are not firm, but Thai-Tang hints it will be “well over 450 hp, closer to 500.” Look for 450-plus lb-ft of torque too. Whatever the final numbers, Ford says this will be the most powerful production Mustang ever.

yeah I'd love to get a goat for a daily but I want a 4-door for a daily just because the t/a doesn't really help with rear seat passengers. So if anything I think I'd pay off the t/a and get a Legacy GT Turbo or a 300c/06 hemi charger)

This concept has worked for years and IMO will continue to work for years.
Mustang GT, Mustang Cobra
Vette, Z06 Vette
300, 300SRT
Let's say for example that you were ready to buy an 05 GTO, if they offered a Judge with a 427 for $10K more would you go for it. If the Judge was out of your price range would you be more likely to buy a Base GTO because of the press of seing the GTO Judge in every magazine in just about every issue?
If it works for the Mustang and it works for the Vette why wouldn't work for a Camaro, Firebird or GTO. I'm a die hard GM fan but it hurts to see them let a great car fail. I fear they are not going to get the GTO styling worked out before it gets cut. Look at some of the concept versions of that car with aggressive wheels and a little bulge to the body panels IMO that car could be even more desirable than a Z06.
Back to the topic that Mustang looks great. I'd buy one.

Not to be making an issue, but if they can get that car out the door for $40-50k, I would be SHOCKED!!!!! Heck the '03 - '04 Cobras (at least the 'Verts) were close to $40k..........If it is Ford saying "around $40K" I think they are blowing smoke up people's *****.

The mustang is just a car you look at once and say "nice looking" that sells. How can anyone say that car is so ugly that they hate it, it is nice. Not trying to argue with anyone or just watch the numbers, 05 Mustang will out sell the GTO, it is just not quit there yet.

I will flat out say the new Mustang is ugly as sin, IMHO. Do I think it will sell well, yes, because most people don't have the same opinion as me. Kinda like the saying, eat $hit, 1,000,000 dung beetles can't be wrong
I also don't think the new body style will last many years either. Retro gets old really fast, and normally sells great in the begining.

I think the new mustang looks awesome and is a step up from the previous generation. But I do agree with you that this retro body style is not going to last very long. Still, GT500 retro mustang, that's awesome.

You are right, retro to this point will get old, a little to much.

Ford is going to have a hell of a time following up the retro car.. I think it's a really bad idea. I think it looks nice, but there's no way in Hell I'd ever own one. I'd buy a '05 GTO and mod it before I paid $40K for that thing.
And if sales are what determines a good car... that would mean that Britney Spears is one of the most talented musical artists in history.
