I ordered my new engine today from Golen engine services. It is their 383 long block package!! Engine should make over 400 hp when finished They are kind of backed up on orders right now though so Chad (the owner) said it should be here around July 1st or so. Hoping to have car up and running by august 1st. I cant wait

Well no it wont be 400 to the wheels because i cant afford 2000 for a 12 bolt rearend so once i get more money i will buy a bigger cam and have more head work done and then it could be, but for now its just a fun street car. But dont hate because its still making 125 more horsepower and like 150 more torque than the stock engine and i will take that anyday. I am just happy because i havent been able to drive my car for like 8 months now.

Personaly I think you will love the motor due to the huge increase in torque. Those 383's are torquey bastards and will make a big diff at launch. Hope you have lots of $$ saved up for new rear tires.

Must keep an eye on your mods.
There are only a few of us lowly LT1's that talk about our cars - and how little we need to mod to get up to speed with a major mod on an LS or SS

Oh I didn't mean anything by it so PLEASE PLEASE don't take offense But speaking from experience I personally would do the cam and headwork now and just drive the car easy if your worried about the rear. But if your motor is within the steps of your goals for the car then that is all that matters.

I really meant that because of the Pain of working on the LT1 more than raggin on your setup and apologize and will delete my posting.

The strength of the 383 isn't HP anyways is usuably torque through out the RPM range. Again sorry if I came off wrong before congrats on the new motor and I truely love the LT1 nothing lowly about it. You can beat the hell of it and it just BEGGS for more

Don't tweak - it was a valid question IMOO. And the lowly LT1 thing came from Mark (I think) welcoming me when I first hit this place, in jest of course - not sure but Ellis and Steph were the only ones admitting they had em' too

Oh i wasnt offended dont worry it just seems like everyone (especially in the lt1 lt4 forum) make fun of you when you dont buy the most expensive parts you can. I just wanted to talk cars is all. But then again everyone on the other forum who make fun of my setup still have a stock car with basic bolt ons so maybe they are just jealous. Anyways dont worry you cant affond me. I just wish people wouldent tell me i bought crap stuff and i should buy this and that because like i said i dont get offended but i just dont like people sounding big headed because they have lots of money. I am only 21. I just want us all to talk about cars and embrace peoples setup's.

I think you're 383 is an excellent choice and the stuff that street fun is made of People on this forum might flip you a little crap about it in jest, but they certainly don't mean it in a mean spirited was at all. An LT1 can be as fast as any other motor, all it takes is money right ?!

And keep in mind a 400hp LT1 will have what, 50 more lbs of torque than a 400hp LS1? Help me out here Ellis. So while it might not be that magical 500hp number, it will probably hang with my car at the track....

I am just happy i will have my car again, my ford ranger is starting to get boring. Although if i keep it floored for like 3 minutes staright downhill on the freeway it gets up to 85 shaking a like a 8 on the richtor scale. So if you own a geo metro dont race me cause you might lose.
