Umm, If i had the money I would jump all over that. That is what i want to transform my car into. But it aint happening. If i bought that car I would throw a 125 shot on it and go into the 10's

Good deal, Go for it.

Sounds like a nice setup...If it were me, I'd throw someone on the board that knows alot about the Lt1's some $ to go with me and check it out.

Hey Rockin I was hoping I would find someone with a similar setup. How is the 383 for everyday driving? Ive never driven a stalled auto before and dont know much about how it is on the street, also does that setup have any weak links to be worried about? Sorry for all the questions but just trying to find out what I can before I go check it out.

why yes, yes I am

The parts list seems nice as long as care was taken in the construction. I see many cars with alot of the best name parts but the construction was less then second rate

Do not get me worng there are some good shops around that do great work...but not as many as people would like to think.

IF this is the project and parts you have been looking for then I would get it. The price is fair for what you are getting. At least it is not a chopped up POS like I have seen in the past asking top dollar for a load of crap

If it is NOT what you are looking for in every way I would pass it up Bang for buck if this one is done right it is a great buy to give you an idea I have over $5,000 in my 6.0L LT1...and that is JUST the motor!

If you are still looking give Z-Angel an Idea of what you are looking for and she may get you a list of what is in the area BEWARE! LT1 cars are raising in price! Mine is back up to what is was worth four years ago!

That is very streetable. You won't hardly notice the 2600 stall on the street. Your next week link (because I don't see it on the list) would be your rearend. But if done right it, it can last for a while.

Ellis is right! A guy tried to buy my LT1 this past weekend and the gas station. The demand for LT1's are rising so use your best judgement. I love mine and have a great deal of work to do on it. I'd reconmend that you drive the car pretty extensively to see if it does what it's suppose to do with the mods. Otherwise just find one with less mods and make a project out of it. Either way you gonna drop some money into it.

Yup the rearend jumped out at me right away, especially with those MT sitting on the back that is a problem waiting to happen. Deffinately wont be running it full throttle from a stop anytime soon if I do pick this up, atleast until I get a moser back there or something. Also how is the stock transmission? Will it be able to handle WOT runs? Would a shiftkit be beneficial for the tranny? I know the 6speeds are supposed to be pretty stout, but I dont know about the A4's because Ive never really looked into them, thanks guys so far youve been awesome, Im gonna see if I can go take a look at it soon!

edit- Can anybody give me a HP estimate for this car, I really dont know because it has a mild cam setup with the LT4 so I dont know what to guess, but then again 12.00s make me think it is making some serious power.

Great. There goes my 'second' car after the AMX
I wanted to get another LT1 just to goof on like (ahem) Ryan...just not as insane. Now they are getting hard to find!
Pssstttt: Try Canada. You might find what you want for sale there at a reasonable price.

mac16 - try to hit Ellis for the last question. Not sure about the A4's but the M6 is hearty enough to handle a solid beating.

With that setup up 450ish HP give or take to the tires. With that kind of power, my A4 with a B&M shift kit, it didn't last but a year. Ellis can build a mean A4 for that thing. I don't use mine on the street that much, so I went with a built A3. FWIW, I still run a 10 bolt, but it is built up.

Alright just found out it dynod 350rwhp with what sounds like a light tune, is that a sign of a bad running setup, or about where its supposed to be. I though it would atleast be a little higher, but nothing a bigger cam cant fix.

Depends on what kind of dyno it was, and was that corrected or not. When I first put my 383 together with no tune on stock heads it turned 340 hp on a Dyno Jet.

On a side note (some of you have been talking about wanting to buy LT1 F-Bods for projects, 2nd cars, or for whatever but are worried about the price) Whenever I drive up & down the 99, thru Lynwood especially, I see TONS of then on the 8 bazillion used car lots there and the most expensive one I have seen is $6,995. I realize they may not all be pristine examples, but if you wanted something to fix up or whatever...........plus autotrader.com has em by the handfuls.

I realize they won't be 383 ci built up beats, but they will be affordable anbd mod-able.

Honestly, unless I knew the person REALLLLLLLLLLY well, AND knew the car & it's history, (and even then I am not so sure) I would rather spend the $$ building up the motor then trust someone else's decisions/choices/etc on something that important.

Just my humble $.02

I have a friend with a 95Z with a 383, stock heads no porting, hotcam, roller rockers running 11:1 compression, long tubes and he runs 12 flat all day long. It to is an A4 car with I beleive a 2600 Stall converter. It too is up for sale but I think he wants 12k for it or something like that. It looks a lot like the car in the pictures above, and my friends car has the exact same mods as well...... That car wouldn't happen to be in the salem oregon area would it? if it is, let me know I can tell you more about the car, as I have spent many hours tuning it.

If you are really serious, and 1/4 performance is the central focus, you should ask for some timeslips, or, better yet, ask to watch it perform at the track. If you told him you would buy it contingent on the track performance, it is a fair request.

If you bought it based on his claims, and it ran 13's when you got it to the track, would you be disappointed?
