I currently have the manley's from my MTI heads on, but the springs on my heads are suitable for ~.575-.581 lift cams. Seeing as how my cam is a .581/.588 I going to upgrade to some 918s, but I'm wondering if I should order the comp cam ti retainers to go along w/ those or if I can use the ones on right now.

I believe you can use them, because they are both about the same diameter on top (neither is a beehive design). But Manley springs are good for .600 lift, if you have the 1423s. They have the same rating as the 918s. You have to go to Patriot duals or similar to get above 600. The caveat here is because your car sits thru the winter, if you have over 550 lift, your springs might go dead on you, and then you'd need new ones.

You can use manley retainers on 918s. 918s are good past .600" They used to be rated at .610" but when the 921s came about they down rated them to sell more 921s. If you mildly shim the 918's you can get away with a stupid amount of lift. They are a lot more spring than most people realize.

TO make sure I would get the matching retainers to get the correct installed Readings the manufacture did OR check the the retainer manufacture to find out the spec's. Much easier to set this stuff up when the heads were built but can by done on the car with the right tools

I would also be checking Piston to valve for sure! Ask Boyce how his MTI combination worked out for piston to valve

If the wrong retainers are used they may only be good for .550 lift

Yes, p to v clearance. When you hit 600 lift with aftermarket heads you might have clearance issues. (MTI likes to mill their heads) And if you run spacers under springs with enough lift you can get coil bind on the springs too. Since nobody knows what you are doing, it's just things you should think about....
