Default leaky radiator and Stock Radiator ?

Well last night on the way home from arlington, the temp gauges in the WS6 skyrocketed (factory pegged, Autometer went to 260). I pull over and turn the fans on high, pop the hood and check it out. No steam, no obvious leaks that I could see. I check the gauge again and it'd dropped back down to normal. So I head home watching it the whole way never went above 220.

Check the coolant this morning and it's dry so I fill it up and go to work. Check after work and it's a lil low. Take it to the shop and check the resevoir for hydrocarbons, none... Checked the oil, no coolant. K so doesn't look like a headgasket (phew). Fill er up again and add dye to it. Run it until the thermostat opens... *drip drip* hmm look flourescent green puddles forming under the front end. didn't even need the UV light So I put her on the lift and found the tanks leaking on the radiator.

I'm going to call LG tomorrow and see if there's any warranty at all on it even though I'm the second owner. If not I'll R&R it or take it to a radiator shop and see if they can repair it.

Problem is the car is my daily . Does anyone have a stock radiator I might be able to borrow until this one gets fixed? My other issue is the radiator has a built in oil cooler. Should I be able to just couple the lines together or cap them so I can still run the car in the mean time?

Thanks everyone.

No worries... if I really need to I can put new tires on the bicycle and pedal to work lol which eventually I'll start doing anyways.

The good news is, the radiator is aluminum so it can be repaired....unlike our stock units that you throw away. The bad news is it won't be cheap (shops see a NICE radiator & the price usually goes up) And yes you can just connect the oil cooler lines & run it that way.

Glad it worked out for you.

That gives me an idea about the die to look for leaks with my truck that I posted a few days ago.

Thanks don, once I have a daily driver it'll be a lot easier to turn it into another fast car on jack stands project lol so I can take the radiator out and really get it checked out but it seems to be holding good now cept for what looks like some overflow or blow by from the cap which I'll just double check when it cools down. Might need a new cap too.

The cap "could be" you entire problem Josh. I have a pressure checker that I'll bring with me to the track Saturday if you go. We can check your cap & your cooling system.

Yep, used that stuff more than 30 years ago. Still looks like rabbit pellets in a jar of ****.
