Default Fords suck!! (frustrated)

Yea so I found a running351 for my boat. Paid only$80 but had to pull it. The guy already had the tranny out and exhaust off so it wasn't too bad. Well now I'm just trying to take off the water pump but I got 3 broken studs! Talked to my dad and he's like 'yea, pretty common' and not to mention they have like 3 different types of water pumps. WTF? Hi, I'm Ford, and I like to make things complicated when they really shouldn't be you know, kinda like Chevy!

before you disassemble that thing anymore I'd shoot the **** out of all the fasteners with thread penetrant/loosener and let it sit overnight, then do it one more time for good measure.

You definately need to get a Ford wrench and get used to taking the old parts with you to the parts store.

If all else fails, at least you'll have a new boat anchor!

"Why do you have 2 motors? Is the other a spare?" No the chevy drives the boat and the ford is an anchor...

I've got an old 4bolt chevy block sitting on the side of my house, rusty as all get out. But if it's got room to bore out it might work. All the surfaces will need machining though. Deck, crank mains, cam mains, lifter bores, cylinder bores, sealing surfaces etc....

Might be too much work to deal with.

I already have 2 running 350's (1 4-bolt) but then I have to worry about adapting to a Ford bellhousing. I'm just on a bit of a time limit. Need to have the boat in the water on thurs to test before I take it to the Gorge this weekend. As soon as I get the studs out I can slam the motor together. I aleady scraped clean the water pump, intake, exhaust ports, and timing cover (has provision for mech fuel pump) so they are redy to install. Goal is to get it in tonight and possibly running...

Sounds like a subaru. I broke so darn many bolts off in that thing, it was crazy. Also, for that little POS i had Subaru put like 3 different distributors in them, and different heads, different this and that...all the same year, all the same engine.....big pain in the butt.....glad its gone. Now all I have to deal with is 3 chevy V8s of different vintages
