Hey Mike, the documented part I read was low 13's high 12's at best. Where is it documented differnet other than his sig?

I agree the Yenko's were nice cars and faster than stock camaro's, but all I have read was high 12/13.

Ken, read your PMs, but I don't think it is bullshit. It is on the street and that car is capable of running what your truck does stock. It sounded close which is what I'd expect so it probablly came down to driver.
As you remeber Mirandas old L would only run 13.70 on a 1.80 60 foot with exhaust. No year was given for the L.

You want the scare of your short lived life? Get in a new N/A Z06 and figure out REAL quick just how fast a stock car can be. while your cobra is boasting 400crank(barely) the Z06 is putting 424 to the ground! two mile off the dealer lot!

Every day some thing better comes along. you get all high and f-ing mighty over us not having the camaro yet refuse to step up to any thing else in the GM chain.

The saddest thing of all was when they did make the camaro ford did not over you **** that could touch it!

 

Lets not forget the lowly C5 Z06. Capable of high 11's, which GMHTP did a test and ran a 11.97 and did not even check the air pressure in the stock tires right off the dealers lot. What was the last production FOMOC that ran stock in the 11's like the C5 Z06 and the C6 Z06? End of story.

True, the other day on horspower TV the Dynoed a 98 Cobra, It was 240 HP to the wheels on a Dynojet through a 5 speed I just laughed. LT1s were doing that in 93 through an A4. Sure your car moves out good. No one is denying that, but sometimes you sound like a troll Ken, and no matter how much I love ya, no one likes a troll.

EVERYTHING I have read/seen about the Yenkos states they were very limited production primarily done by the dealer. I think I read there were only 312 ish from 67-69...not really what I consider production.


Also, everything I have read states they were low 13's high 12's with a good driver stock..show me something different.

I would never go over to their kill section and call bullshit, if it is a lie the Ford guys will call him out before I would ever have to then I may throw my 2 cents in, with information to backup my claim.

I have seen many, many tests run on the Yenkos & Copos. The results varied from 11s to 14s depending on who did the test & how the cars were prepped (tires etc). Just like Cobra tests, you can go find one to support your opinion if you look hard enough.

And I believe the Yenko Nova is purported to be the fastest "production car" ever built, with the Hemi Cuda being the fastest production car available to the masses. (I think the GT500 with the 428 Cobra Jet was next in line) Until the new era of muscle cars that is. There is no doubt the new GTOs, Vipers, Cobras / GT500s & Vettes outperform ANY of their old school name sakes. And the Z06 is on the top of the pile.....for now.

So go ahead, brag, challenge, flip ****, it's all good. Be prepared to be called out tho. This group has little respect for someone that refuses to back their mouth up. (& like Ellis, I can be brash, but we're only trying to state facts, & it's all in good fun)

OK, you are right..I guess...a heavily modded LT1 can hang with a stock L, or close to it... just sounded very very weak If I had a heavily modded fox I would not bragg about beating a 454SS

So what do lightnings run stock? I remember when I first got my car I thought I was hot **** and revved at this lightning as I passed him. Then I was ahead of him by about 10 car lengths just cruising and he switched lanes and floored it, I thought I would be able to stay with him if I put it in 3rd and pinned it right before be passed, but he got like 5 cars on my from his momentum and the gap never increased after that. Sad day.

 

I only made it to the track one day after I got my L, and I only got one run due to peeps breaking on the track and lenghty cleam ups.


I had never driven an auto at the track and I feel I can do better with a lil practice and learning how best to launch it. I cant wait to try a few diff methods to see what works best.

I have a Magnaflow CB, and K&N drop in filter. They say the stock exhaust is pretty free flowing so prolly did not gain a lot there. So I am pretty damn close to stock, no pully or tune yet.

I ran a 13.5 @101 MPH I think I will do better this march.

A buddy of mine who doesnt go to the track much at all ran his 03 True Blue L at pacific with about 6k miles on the odo. Totally stock with stock tires and all he went 13.4something at 103. The 99/00 L's were only rated at 360 hp and had a tough time running 13s. So its kinda like when ya here "I beat a 5.0". There were 16 second 5.0s and 13 second 5.0s.

 

I should also add that particular truck I spoke of was the strongest stock Lightning I ever dynoed, made 383 at the wheels.

 

I raced a lightning at the track when I was mostly stock, no stall, no headers, just a lid and catback. He raped me out of the hole and put about 3 cars on me, but I slowly reeled him in and caught him just past half track, then put two cars on him by the finish line. I was running 13.2-13.3 at that time. Fun race.

I like that it lists the source. I also like that it notes with ** the cars whose times were with drag tires.

The fastest classic car listed with a verified street tire time is the 1963 Ramcharger at 12.0 sec.

I also like that they list both the street tire time for the new Z06 and the best recorded stock w/drag tires time.

 

No it's not stock...but no converter, no heads, cam, gears, power adder.
