I like that it lists the source. I also like that it notes with ** the cars whose times were with drag tires.
The fastest classic car listed with a verified street tire time is the 1963 Ramcharger at 12.0 sec.
I also like that they list both the street tire time for the new Z06 and the best recorded stock w/drag tires time.
I'd like to build a replica ZL1 motor some day. Just to see how strong it truly was and how it sang at full RPM.

Too bad they wont make it for the masses.
I've read ~580HP for the ZL1, never heard of the 710 figure. Zora Arkus Duntov claimed to run 10.50's in the ZL1 with a T-400 and a 4.88 rear gear on slicks.

7. 1969 ZL1 Camaro
1969 was a brief window in time where model proliferation, engine options, and bulls-eye styling converged to create some incredible Camaro combinations. By far, the most exotic was the ZL1 Camaro. Sixty-nine were built and each came with two things that would guarantee its place in legend and lore: a 430hp all-aluminum 427 (a staggering $4,160 option) developed for Can Am racing, and a price tag over $7,000 (a basic V-8 Camaro was less than $3,000).

Engine ZL1 427
Transmission four-speed
Axle 4.10:1
Source High Performance Cars, July ’69
Good Points: 427 fire-breathin’ cubes with the weight (and sleeper appearance) of a six-banger. How sweet it is.
Bad Points: Could induce anxiety attacks, heart arrhythmia, palpitations, sweating, chronic wallet fatigue syndrome, and 11 different kinds of sleep disorders.
Fans Say: God bless COPO. Critics Say: Gee, a Camaro. Never seen one of those before!
A Legend Because: Imagine an engine option that cost more than the car itself—and was worth it! High water mark of the big-block—the ultimate Camaro.

I drove a '69 Yenko with orginal tires that with just a squeeze of the throttle at 65 on the freeway, would blaze the tires. That was the lowly little L72 425hp 427. The ZL1 had more compression and much more camshaft and weighed 300 lbs less.
If you want to learn lots about most of the wildest Supercars ever produced, take a look at Kevin Suydam's collection. He lives here in Seattle and is a hell of a nice guy. Our Camaro club has been to his home a couple of times to see his collection - drool rags not supplied.

Oh yeah, he has one of the ZL1 Corvettes and at least one ZL1 Camaro. His token F*rd is a Boss 429 car.

My best friend had a 68 Chevelle ss396 M21 car that would smoke em on the freeway, after a Dick Ewing rebuild of it that is. Ewing also did the 283 in my Chevelle. This was back in the early 80's. Roarke was doing my tranny's back then too. That was good times. Cruising in Everett and Lake City. Street racing on River Road in the Snohomish flats and the old Boeing access highway.
No low 12's for him stock, sorry
Kevin Suydam is a cool guy...with a REDICULOUS collection...he had his '69 Yenko Nova at the Supercar Reunion a couple years ago.
I am glad you all agree with the technical stuff in there, that is basically what I was going off of.
And like the new Z06, I would also drive a Yenko..again, blue please

And I see you're in West Virginia? That is *PRIME* Yenko country...lots of miners came up to Pennsylvania to pick up there Yenko cars, and there were also lots of dealers in the Yenko network in the surrounding area as well. And blue is a killer color on a Yenko...we're lucky enough to have a '69 Yenko 427 Nova that is LeMans blue w/white stripes, and we get lots of compliments on the color.
