Yeah, don't remind me...that's the bad thing about Memphis...when it starts getting late in the year, and the dew falls earlier on the track, you're hosed. I'm gonna pull off the kink bent exhaust and crappy crossflow Flowmaster and put a mandrel system with a freer flowing crossflow type muffler, and then see what happens. May not show up much except on the big end...?

Yep, that sure looks like BS to me. Congrats on the NICE car Rob!!! I hope to be in your neck of the woods come summer. Gonna trailer the sled back home to visit with my bros & take in a race. Maybe I'll get lucky & see you at a track somewhere.

Here is another story...

Here is a 12.70 one
http://www.autofacts.ca/classics/fast.htm
These are just maqazine test, there are articles I have here in my house from old magazines with guys running 11's in stock trim on Bias ply tires.
These cars were way underated.
Nice car and run Rob, nice slip... are you really 100% bone stock after all these years? How could you resist not doing any mods?

Mike, I agree with you, those cars we very underrated as are most high HP cars.

Rob, I think you are a stand up guy and I apologize for saying bullshit too soon. But I would be happier to actually see a BONE STOCK on bias ply run low 12's. If you indeed do, great job. But I don't think they all ran low 12's.

And you must be a very good driver, congrats.

I would be willing to bet that more ran in the 13's than did in the 12's, BONE STOCK of course.

We can post different **** up all day long about this, with different results.

My final thoughts...

The Yenko's were very fast and awesome, BUT, they were not true production cars for the masses like we were talking about that started this ****. Only 69 in 69, C'mon. I have read articles that Chevy had to come out with the 427 camaro to keep up with the big block stangs.. yada yada yada.. Like I said, we could go on forever, but I would rather start another fight

NWdragqueen... get off my *****

That's the nature of the class..."Pure Stock"...the engine is blueprinted, but running all the correct (original) parts except for the pistons (original TRW's are garbage)...oh, and the cam is the correct blueprint cam from Crane/GM. We get to run a mandrel exhaust, and can do jetting/timing changes and such, but not a whole lot else. We bought the car as an all original 27k mile car, and it went 13.2s @ 105 or so without me ever tuning it or turning a wrench on it (on Polyglass tires)...I pulled the engine apart and cc'd everything, and it barely had 10:1 compression, whereas it's supposed to be 11:1...before the days of CNC machining and tight production tolerances GM used to leave lots of meat in the heads/block. But that allowed for wiggle room during a rebuild, I guess.

And you're getting your numbers mixed up on the Yenko Camaros...they only built 69 of the ZL1 Camaros in 1969 (all aluminum 427), but 198 *iron block/head* 427 Camaros were shipped to Yenko Chevrolet and ~800 went to other dealers across the country.

Yeah just like some bone stock (and I mean no Magna flow or K&N) 03/04 Cobras don't run 12's...
Yep...hahahahahahaha

And Jr was calling me out. I will race you in the truck. You will win, why not try the caddy on for size too.

Thank you, and again very nice car and nice runs. Thanks for admitting it went 13's stock when you got it, you have a keeper there. As for the 69, I think we were referring to the ZL1's so that is where the 69 came from.

Enjoy your toy...

15.63 at 92 mph on a 2.4 60 foot...torque mangement kills it. The have finally figured out how to crack and some guys are running 14.80s in them with nothing but the tune. Whoo a dee do...

Remeber you are not stock anymore.

If that is the case a cutout and K&N filter are stock and the 01 went 12.80s with 2.0 60 foots at 111.xx mph

If we're talking little minor mods, with only a catback and airlid, mine went 12.64 @ 110.9 down in Gainesville with a 1.95 60'.

Ken. You do not know me. Yes I am a little Hostile when people have no idea WTF they are talking about and toughting it as gold

Your biggest Mistake so far is in ASSUMING all COPO cars were ZL1 cars Not true. dig a little deeper.

Yes I called your car a POS. You obviosly have not been reading any thing else I have typed and this is a good example. You see UN-LIKE many here I HAVE swung from both sides...actually all three(Ford,Dodge and Chevy) batters box. I started DEEP in the Ford camp and got out when it was clear there was nothing to offer there.

I have complimented ford several times and have also shown the short comings you will not admit but are widely known.

So Lets settle this. I will digg my Piece of **** out and you get your Piece of **** out and we will race for it the old fashion way...on the track

I will even give you the bottle out of my car to make it fair

Should be a fair race un-less you can't drive. You should even be able to beat me.... then again i may just come straight through your door at half track hehehe

So in the end I am calm cool and collected. There is more to history if you look at all of it. Ford has been up many times and down at others. Your short coming is of cubic inches and ours is of a chassis. Good thing we do not have to spend an extra $50k to get what our cars should come with from the factory we just need to get a GTO

BTW Wans't that a V6 stedily kicking the mustangs *** back in the 80s

Hell, even I would race Ellis if he took his bottle out.

Here may be the best idea Ford could do. The mighty LS7 in a stang. Belongs to Mike at NX. Actually, there are quite a few guys doing this.

Thats just as retarded as putting a 4.6 in an F-body. If you dont like the engine, get a different car.
