It is a shame really, Ford has in general over the years made a good truck and I am not a Ford guy at all, will never own one, but the 7.3 was a good motor, the 6.0 was rushed into production for emissions and has had problems now this.

wtf, flames caused by leaking fuel so they update software???? Shouldn't they fix the leaky injectors or turbo or whatever it is instead, or is that just me?

Hay, I found the problem, it's on the front and someone already circled it!!

Happened when they first introduced the 6.0L power joke. Only those would fill the cylinder when parked and shatter a rod when started.

"...There has been one report of a grass fire in Texas that was quickly extinguished, he said..."
EXTERNAL combustion engines are my favorite! Seriously... makes me want to start my truck to warm up while it is parked in my garage RIGHT NOW.

I tend to wonder... Is it really that hard to run an automaker, Ford?

Somewhat off topic... but didn't Chevy outsell Ford this last year in pickups or was it really close? Remember seeing numbers and being surprised at the result, but don't remember what they were!

Remember that Ford is now run by Alan Mulally the ex Boeing President. It is acceptable for flames to come out the end of a jet engine. (well actually it's not but it sounds good) They are supposed to dry motor the engine to remove pooling fuel first. Evidently that is the new starting procedure for the F series.

Issue has already been resolved. I think some prety rash statements are being made here.

Anyone heard of Piston Slap in an LS1?

Corvette Z06 (LS6) motors grenading far too often?

EVERY car has teething issues.

Piston slap isn't even the same thing there are many 200,000 mile motors out there with it with no problems yeah it sucks, but it won't start a fire and for all the years I have been surfing LS1 boards I have not heard this about the Z06 Engine.

Yeah equate piston slap to this

I havent heard of a major Z06 engine failure issue but I have heard of their tops flying off at speed and causing a few accidents.

On the Z06s it was't like it was an epidemic, but they were prone at the roadcourse to have oiling issues. I *believe* a couple popped just at SIR. Granted this in some views could be considered abuse.

Moral of the story: Don't expect perfection, they're all just friggin mechanical and electrical devices. Doesn't matter if its a Toyota with Engine Sludge, an Dodge with a Bad Trans, a Ford with a Bad Heater Core, or whatever.....

Concur, but that truck is Ford's good stuff, I am not sure how that got by them. It sure does look cool though.

Hmm.. I wasn't aware of Z06 tops flying off as all the Z06's I've ever heard of are hard tops (aka Fixed Roof Coupes). I think the regular targa Vettes had the problem
