Default Woodward Dream Cruise, Det, MI.

This year marks the 10th anniversery for the Woodward Dream Cruise which is happening the weekend of August 13.
If you've never been there, it's arguably the largest gathering of street rods in the nation. It goes from 8 mile road in Ferndale, and lately has been encroaching into the city of Pontiac, which is 20 miles or so north.
The best time to get there is the weekend and week prior to the event, which is when all the real cruising goes on, (in the evening, of course) and party's are all along the strip.
There is an official web site for the event. http://www.woodwarddreamcruise.com/2003/
If you are anywhere near the area this is the primo event you don't wanna miss. maybe I'll see you there. I'm making the trip from Dallas, TX.

I agree with Unit it is way to Crowded.
The first Couple were great but since then it has become way to Commercial.

Definitely. You can't even drive anymore. It's like a parking lot.

Yea and the parking lot starts on Wed. night.
The last couple of years I have gone out there during the week and have avoided Sat. But now it's getting to the point where you can't even cruise during the week anymore.

I go every year and have gone to them all since the first. I agree it shouldnt be called a cruise more like the woodward dream lot. But if you walk around you can see lot and lots of incredable detroit iron parked every where, from frame off restos to full out drag cars. And of course when they shut it down its only a short drive to some packed late night races

I will continue to go during the Week and find a good lot to hang out in. I usually try to park up in Birmingham or northern Royal Oak around 14 mile. I have gone on Sat. morning like before 10:00 am and you can actually cruise for a little bit. After that it's about 6 miles of clutch foot'itis.

I knew about the lot they had last year but $75 was steep. I used to be a member of a GTO club and we parked in downtown Birmingham on old Woodward the cost was $10. So you can see where I'm coming from. This year should be different, Better organized but we'll see.

I have a brother who lives about a mile from 13 & Woodward, so parking has never been an issue for me personally. one thing I know for sure tho is be where you wanna be by 10 am saturday or sunday, cause that's where you'll be for the rest of the day unless you walk. I've always had a good time there, and look forward to this years event.

Default it was amazing!!!

I went last year, first time, and watched from streetside in Pontiac. There were so many great looking older muscle cars that I sat there all day on Saturday. There was an amazing amount of all types of different cars all day long. It was great where I was (Telegraph Road, I think) because the road widened to 4 lanes at the light. Hole shots and burnouts at the light all afternoon! I would like to go back this summer.

SixPack : if you go, shoot me an email in July, maybe we could hook-up?

After flying into Detroit to see the WDC 3x i drove the WS6 2500 miles from Los Angeles last year and I'm planning to do it again this August. It's a fantastic day.

Just to clear up the original post...

...the "official" day for the Cruise is Saturday, August 21, 2004.

I drove up Woodward on my way home from work last night, and it is already packed!

Unit - it may be crowded... but if you can't go for the crusing, then go for the *****.

Well, I went. I hung out for a few hours at 13 & woodward. My buddy rented out the belle tire parking lot. Very cool event.
