Will be taking place May 18th, 19th, and 20th, in Indianapolis. This will be the 11th year of the event. I've been to several of them (both Indy and Memphis), and they've all been an absolute blast. 3 day events let you race a lot and yet have time to meet people.
This is not a car show, though there are some well done cars that show up. This is more geared for the racers. Drag racers, auto crossers, and road racers. Many of the cars that show are driven in, flogged on hard, and (most of the time) driven home again.
There's no "prize money" for winning, but trophies are handed out and there's usually a little something for the winners. ![Winky](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_wink.gif)
http://www.fbody-event.org is the web site, though it hasn't been updated for this years' event yet. There is also a message board, but it's not got much activity going on right now. Everything is being spoken about on the mailing list (at http://www.f-body.org under Mailing Lists, sub to the Event mailing list).
Typically, registration closes about 6 weeks before the event. There are never registrations or payments taken "at the gate". So it's a fairly closed event, and not open to the general public after the registration due date. This makes it a MUCH more relaxed and friendly environment for the participants.
I'll post back when they start taking registrations. I'm planning on being in Indy this year, but will fly in and out (too far to drive for me). Having no car at the event is still a ton of fun.

Things are starting to move on the event.
They are taking names in this post:
http://www.fbody-event.org/forums/showthread.php?t=140
Note that on the Event board, you must register with either firstname-last initial or inital-lastname. Kinda funky, but that's their rules.
Anyhow, Thunder Racing is the primary sponsor for the event (and will be there in full force, I'm sure - as I've seen Paul, Angie, David, Geoff, and others there in years past). Carolina Auto Masters (CAM, Jeff "The Milkman" Creech) is a sponsor as well.
If you Autocross, Road Race, or Drag Race... this is the event to go to. 3 days of racing during the day, and hanging out with fellow enthusiasts in the evening.

Yah, Steve and his wife Susan are regulars at the event. They missed last year, but hopefully they'll make this year. I also ran in to him at the Thunder Shootout a couple years ago.

We were the primary sponsors in 2004 and had a blast! Ran some nice times, broke LOTS of parts(2 drive shafts, chromoly torque arm, stock bottom end, etc.) it was great! We plan to be there again this year. Come on and join the fun!

I always wondered what they looked like on the inside

You wouldn't happen to be the same guy that I watched squeeze between the entrance gate & the fence post on Saturday morning so someone could be alerted to unlock the gate for us? That looked like it really hurt

If I remember right that was Brad that squeezed through the fence.

Hell that is part of the fun, scrambling to borrow tools, laying on your back in the pits wrenching like mad to get up and running again.

I'll be there! Register at http://www.fbody-event.org
Open to all F-bodies, GTO's, Vettes and CTS-V's.
The "NFME" is a National Event with magazine coverage. Notice it's a Thursday, Friday, Saturday event. It is a closed event that is not open to the public. You should get unlimited runs on the most famous dragstrip in the world. IRP is the home of the NHRA US Nationals.......so you know the track prep will be good. Some of the fastest F-bodies in the country will be there along with cars that you have seen in magazines and on TV. If you want to get a professional quality picture of your car leaving the line, Jim Davidson will be on hand. His F-body pictures are second to none.

Dragman, I'm trying to get an answer right now. In the past, the event was F-body only unless you'd attended a previous event (then you could bring a 'vette). However, there is a LOT of merit in allowing other LTX/LSX vehicles in to the event. I'd love to see CTS-V's on the road course. ![Driving](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_driving3.gif)
I have a feeling it will turn out that any LTX/LSX vehicle (including 'vettes, GTO's, CTS-V's, etc) will be welcome to the event, but the finale "Quick 16" drag racing competition will be F-body only (but the bracket competition will be open to all racers). And the AutoCrosss / Road Racing would welcome the other vehicles as well (with classification based on driver skill level / experience - newb's are not put on the road course at the same time as the advanced racers). Again, I'm hoping to have a clarification to this soon.
