If it drives straight, fix it.
But, if it doesn't drive down the road straight now, **** it. These cars never come back straight. And, everytime I say that, some guy who says he knows it all will say different. Do yourself a favor and take the money and get rid of it. Take it from someone who's spent way too much money bringing back F-Bodies.

Looks gone to me. Why?
A-Pillar is clearly out of position. That'll be an expensive fix.
Rear QP is also an expensive fix (since it's welded in place).
At least the airbags doesn't seem to have deployed.

While it might not be "totalled" to someone that wants to fix it...the insurance company is almost certainly going to total that. Its almost exactly the same damage as the donor car that I bought had. Same type of accident. Tho, he had subframe connectors installed along with a roller back that probably helped him big time.
Anyway...when the rocker gets crushed like that to the point where things in the floorboard get warped, its hard to get it back. You're looking at replacing metal, not just pulling things.
My course of action for that car would be to find a nice roller and transplant the parts you want over, or cut your losses, part it out after buying back from insurance...etc etc.
Sucks...and I hate to see it... But Ide be shocked if your insurance company doesnt total that quick as heck. Good luck man!

Sorry to hear about your car.
I agree, given the book value and how cars have dropped in price lately. If the car is driveable and it looks like it is, I'd get a few estimates.
To the OP, FWIW - My 91 RS got hit really bad and totalled thanks to my former better half. Insurance laughed at the idea of fixing the car. I spent the insurance money + out of pocket to fix the car. It's amazing what a good body shop with quality techs can do...if you spend the money. That was back in 2001, I drove the RS to work today and it's getting an LS1 next month. So that ghettocruiser says is true part of it will be do you really want to fix the car. Most of the time it's best to let them go when they get a bad hit...and sometimes if the car is special to you...it doesn't really matter if can afford to fix the car...it's getting fixed...like my old RS.

That looks far from a total to me, pic under the car shows that it only damaged the outer panel of the rocker and pushed the door post in just a hair. If our cars had metal doors it would have caved the whole side in. Be thankful for you buddy that you hadn't cut the impact bars out of your doors or he would probably be rather skinny right now. All in all I say a few weeks at the bodyshop and your car will be fine. Mileage plays into the whole insurance scam too though.

When you pull the rocker out on a frome machine the quarter will come back with it, then once they pull the a piller put a section of rocker in it, put a door on it fix the quarter and good as new.

Some people say "totalled" to read "not repairable". Your car is definately repairable, but if the value of the repair is over 70-80% of the value of the car insurance will total it. Since you're paying out of pocket and it drives straight I say fix it. I see you're here in Orlando, so get the parts for a good deal from Charlie (407-797-3307) and find a shop that's hungry for work to weld in the new section of rocker and pull the unibody. You can do it that way for less than half of what Courtesy is quoting you.

Just be forwarned, if you go to the extent to buy back it has to past inspection which can be a mother ****, you dont have to accept their offer, but be aware your insurance $$$ will go up either way, since they are considering it a At Fault Accident regardless of pay out.
Companies are doing that now adays, even mine and we are behind the curve when it comes to ringing $$$ out of people
