DIY: Painting an Fbody matte black?

Alright me and my buddy alwaya thought it would be cool to paint an Fbody matte black. Well now that his pewter B4C's clear is peeling on the hood and quarter this seems like a good time. So what is the easiest and cheapest way to do this? I was thinking like scuff and sand the paint, clean the dust, mask off and spray? Is there any one step system we could spray?
Thanks guys!
Josh

Just remember exactly how you mix it, and shoot some test panels to get it how you want it. Write down what you do that way if you have to go back and respray something due to a run or etc.. It will match. If it's mixed differant than first time it could have a differant shine

Almost all of the info you could want for Blitz Black can be found here:

I went through that whole thread & wasn't too impressed. Most, not all but most of the cars looked like $100 paint jobs. I think you would be better off going with the hot rod black like Ocala93TA did. His looks better than most of the ones in the John Deere thread & as good as the best ones in there.

good luck.. IMO, the only way to do it right, is to do it RIGHT.. take the panels off the car and spray it with hot rod black. Buddy of mine has a LOT of money in his flat black paint job on a 9 sec. c5 and it looks AMAZING.. it was done by one of the best body shops around here. it looks great but if youre going to do it yourself with some b.s. rattle can ****, then good luck.. i hope yall pull it off.

anyone can spray flat/satin black. keep in mind that the quality of a paint job doesnt only come from spraying, it comes from prep work, and this is what will make the difference.
mask the entire car off first, scuff sand everything you'll be painting, do your bodywork (if you have any to do), wipe down the entire car (must be clean!!!!!) then spray away. when it comes to actually spraying, keep in mind that temperature, humidity, gun pressure, and the mix you actually use (paint, reducer, hardener), will ALL have an effect on how your paint lays. painting isnt the easiest thing to do, but flat/satin/matte black is pretty straight forward and not as easy to screw up as gloss black and similar colors. good luck man

It is also recomended to not use the JD reducer for this reason. A regular Valspar medium enamel reducer is suposed to ease the drying time.
