Default Painting a Carbon Fiber Hood

Anyone ever paint a Carbon Fiber Hood? I am looking to pick up a SS hood for my car and was thinking of getting a carbon fiber hood and painting it. I was thinking of masking off the scoop to leave it with the carbon fiber look and then clear everything. Just thought I would see if anyone has done this. It is on a Pewter 00 Z28 BTW.

im actually getting this done at a shop right now except the opposite im leaving the hood carbon fiber and just painting the scoop and lines down the scoop my cars color.
first of all make sure you ask the shop if they know how to paint carbon fiber because it is different then painting a normal hood, you need a different primer and such (the body shop i went to expained but i wasnt paying attention) and also its a bit more expensive

The carbon fiber hoods have a clear coat on them, treat it just like any other painted part and you're fine.

Unless you have some special hood that has no clear, which I personally have never seen, you will be fine, no special products are needed.

I just had my car painted last week.
Carbon Fiber hood and left the weave exposed at intake area.

I'm partial but I think it looks pretty good!

Carbon fiber took quite a bit of extra prep work for painter

my problem is, if i primer the parts i intend to paint, ill have a pretty damn big step in the transition from paint to carbon fiber,I guess if i lay enough clear on i could still sand it out but that would be a **** load of clear.

Prime it and the wetsand the edge to blend to the clear on the carbon you want to leave exposed same with your paint. Its some extra steps but worth it. Wet sand the hood and clear it, you should have a real nice clean line.
