Default Wiper delete, shaved wiper supports...pics inside

Got sick of not being able to reach behind my motor, so i did way with the useless wiper support metal. Ive seen it done on a handful of cars, but could never find any good pictures. So heres some!!!!

Got it all cut out, fabbed in the sheetmetal, and welded all of it up in about 8 hours. Also smeared it with seam sealer just incase i missed a hole or two. I will post pictures up later on this weekend when i get it smeared with bondo, and smoothed. Going to leave it in black primer most likely because i plan to shave and paint the rest of the engine bay next year once the 12 point cage is installed.

By the way this mod did not drop weight, and its not really worth the hastle unless you work on your car A LOT like i do, and have knowledge on welding, fabricating, and bodywork. Just a heads up gents

did you go with a hood that extends to the windshield since you removed the cowl?

No i didnt, i had a pin on but since my car is on the street a lot more than at the track i hated pulling it off. im just going to have a gapping hole back behind the hood for now. I may investigate a different style hinge that picks up and then back like the older style GM cars had so i could retain a bolt on hood with hinges and have it extended. Havent seen that one done yet have you???

Got some filler smeared and sanded down tonight, and put 3 coats of black primer on it for this season. Turned out ok. Finished it with 80 grit scratchs so it looks a little half assed, which it is, but it will be sanded down for a final finish next year after the cage. This was just a ruff in, and i only had 1 night to do it because my new FTI converter got here today, and the motor trans are going back in next weekend. Pictures will be posted soon.

Computer is inside the car in the glovebox. I used a 4" air cutoff wheel, and a mini sawzaw/ bodysaw. Zues alignment and drill is not a easy task. Ive always wanted to try doing 4 pin aerocatch setup. I think that would be the ****!!!!

I know their will be a HUGE gapping hole behind my hood, but for the convience its worth it for now. I may come up with a way to make it look better, depends. Ether way once the hoods on i will post some pics for ya man.
