Default (Finished Pics posted from#247) 19x14s under flared quarters - my '02 Ram Air...

Originally from here:
This thread

Hey team.
I'm logging the process of my flared quarters project dubbed Operation: Wide Hips. Corny, I know. Anyway, The objective of this project is two things:

1. House the rear 19x14 iforged Aeros properly.
2. To do something different than mini-tub. <--can I bold that?

I understand mini-tubs were an option. ****, it was probably cheaper. I didn't want to do that. I wanted a wider WS6. Now that that's out of the way, specs are in the signature. Feel free to ask questions

edit: the rear bumper and side rocker panels had to be extended outward to make everything look right. So that should explain the "white" on those pieces.

Austin

A couple in the design stage. Finished product will be very much refined of course.

Negative. I've looked at doing that and it looks weird no matter how you do it. This will just be a more emphasized hourglass shape (looking from top, down). Hence Operation: Wide Hips.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. As pics roll in, they'll be rolled up to this thread. I know a lot of people, myself included, have wanted to see a tasteful wide body execution performed on a 'bird. This will be exactly that.

The design is entirely my own, the shop has been carefully selected, briefed to every detail and the money has been paid. This will work guys

Bobs99: sorry bro, it's the same wheels actually!
You what I did? I ordered the widest outer lip from Iforged. I then disassembled my 19x11 rear wheels and reassembled them with the new lips. So from a 3" lip to a 6". While it was apart, I sanded/painted my wheel centers anthracite.

There's really nothing to look at as far as external aesthetics go. Basically just the rear bumper and rocker panel outward extension. If you keep in mind the tire sticks out a full 3", you can imagine the dramatic change required on those pieces to make it look right. Basically they all came outboard a full three inches.
The other thing to notice is the awesome inner well work. All Fabrication will be welded inside and out. In other words, it'll be SOLID.
