Default 6LE Roof Install Problems?

Are there any problems getting these roofs to fit like the original?

I currently have my Z28 at a local shop (Hunt and Knight) that does a lot of body work and restortoration on Corvettes and they're having a terrible time with it. I went to pick it up today and it the roof was put on crooked and the triangle panals next to the windows were not flush with the body. On the passenger side I could actually see down into the t-top frame and on the driver side there was a huge gap between the roof and the rear window. Theyre gonna try to remove and reset, but theyre probably gonna end up having to order another from 6LE.

What a pain in the ***!

Anybody? I think it would be great if I could give the shop some install tips since they've obviously never dealt with this before.

I'm spending over a grand on this project, but at this point I just don't want my car to end up looking like a POS.

Well that sucks, to say the least! I actually tried to take one off of a 97 at a junkyard and gave up after about an hour of wire-sawing and getting nowhere. I've emailed 6LE for some advice but hopefully he will chime in here too.

I just cut the whole piece out of a LT1, from pick n pull. I will just drink a beer, and take my time cutting it out. Oh and think of all the money I saved

I had hell with the diffuser I bought from them. They replaced my panel with a new one that fit better. Havent installed it yet, but this is worrying me about my carbon fiber sail. I'll be making damn sure I take good care of my teenage acne'd up one in its removal now.

Extreme Dimensions manufactures their products, the problem lies there and not in 6LE's design, or in the mold they sent. FWIW... If you have an early production run of the sail it might just be a bad one.

We've had a few shops install wrong. You HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE TO install this from the center out (just like a CME valance) if you start one side to the other it will be totally off (hence one triangle flush and then a gap on the other side) and sit weird...

Thanks for chiming in. I will relay the message. I went back to the shop today just to give the manager a copy of the old install thread I found on here, which really isn't much help. The manager said he has an experienced glass guy coming out to try his luck at removing the panal tomorrow.....

Shouldn't be hard since the glue is fresh... If they mess it up and try to make you pay for a new piece e-mail me (reply to the e-mail address I e-mailed you from an hour ago) so we can do our best to at least get you a replacement at cost...

They got it off undamaged! The glass guy used some kind of $800 reciprocating knife/saw used for removing windows. I meant to ask what the tool was called exactly but maybe one of you guys know.

So they installed it, it didn't fit and they gave it back to you?

Fiberglass, same as the replacement.

Sounds like the shop just went ahead with the install without doing a test fit first to check alignment and everything. Brilliant of them.

There is another tool, and under $100. A windshield remover kit, check the sticky about bubbling sail panels, and there is a pic and price for that tool

I was wondering the same thing. doesnt make sense that it was ever glued on without having done a trial fit

You guys are referring to the sail panels and not an actual roof(hardtop cars) right?

They got the roof (sail panel) installed and it looks much better this time. I'll put some pics up once I get the car cleaned up.

Default Sail panel problems

I also had problems with the 6L3 roof sail panels and i also got a ss hood from them that doesnt fit. Just leaves a big gab between the fenders. I had to get a OEM ss hood that I found and got the roof from the autowreckers off a 98 camaro.
