I got a vehicle in desperate need of painting and I want to do a roll on cause of budget and I have seen a few turn out good. However never got to talk to their owners. That and my spray painting sucks.

How much paint was used?

How many coats did ya do?

 

just sand it smooth and plasti dip it. So easy a caveman could do it

Dont you have ECONO paint and body were you are? just let them paint it for 250... better than a roll on could be

 

No theres was a Macco paint job done on it and thats why Im having to roll it on.

from what i remember it was rustoleum outdoor house paint. they did like 4 coats wetsanding in between and a full week because of drying time. if your doing it half-*** anyways why not take the easier route. Maaco or plasti-dip.

 

Cause Maaco dont last and well the roll paint seems to last a few years.

 

You sound like you have your mind set, roll it on heck get a paintbrush for those hard to reach areas.

 

use a mop...

...it wont leave brush strokes.

 

Wagner power sprayer! or you could also rino line it? never worry about paint again just pressure wash it and your done

 

If I were you I would just sand it all smooth and pick up a case of that matt finish black paint and be done with it. Just my .02

 

Just primer it. Everybody knows primer cars are fast!

 

 

 

Ok let me tell you first hand that I tried to do this on a scrap car just for the hell of it and **** that ****!
You better have plenty of time... loads of sandpaper and be prepared to paint, sand, paint, sand, break thru the paint, start all over, paint, sand, paint and eventually after a month final sand and polish.
Honestly sand your car down really good, mask it all off and trailer it to a Macco. You will a lot happier and will probably spend about the same amount of money.

This is some funny stuff, honestly just sand it down and rattle can flat black or rattle can primer. Otherwise your pissing your money and time away. If it was possible to get a quality paint job with a brush in your driveway then real paint shops would not exist.

 

This brings back memories. When I was about 7 or 8 my dad bought an old chevrolet pickup that was multi colored. We took a weekend, sanded it down, dusted it off, taped it off, and rolled on a couple of coats of rustoleum green. It looked better than the Optimus prime it started as, but after a couple of months, it faded and always looked chaulky.

With the childhood memories out of the way, Just spend some time block sanding it down, and rattle can it flat (or semi gloss looks kinda cool/murdered) black. Dont roll it, cause when its said and done, and you want to do it right, it will be a pain to sand it down. Just my .02. Eric L

 

i've seen lots of roll on paint jobs on ricers and general junkers. The paint jobs always look terrible from what i've seen. Do the body work and take it to maaco or somewhere equivalent or trade something of value for a paint job.
