Default Steel ground effects/ extended rockers

Finally began making my steel lower bodyextensions to make my 83 el camino blend better with the 2010 camaro nose. They will also have far better margins & fit & finish than the fiberglass they are replacing. Went through extra trouble at the front door to fender area to make the door open without the area being angled off like even many factory skirts are. Also tightening up wheelwell openings. Upper section will be screwed on & bonded with 3-m 8115 automix while lower section will screw & bolt on.

Rough sample, minus the 1/2" attaching flanges

The final shape in mock up. Will look less bulky when painted black.

A close up view of the difficult front door to fender area. Extended door line forwards & cut notch into front fender for door clearance.

View of upper side profile & backside of upper front fender section.

Before pic.

Now that's a Frankenstein I really like! The angular nose of the new Camaro fits well with the Elky body. Good job!

man i can't express how much hate el camino's and ranchero's but what you've done here is pretty damn sweet and i'd love to see the fab work in person.this is why i'm a car guy, just when you think you don't like something somebody builds it cool and makes you say sweet ride.

Way to make an somewhat ugly vehicle look awesome! Only thing I don't care for on it is the fake blower thing. Other then that I love it. Btw how hard is it to put the new camaro nose on?

Thanks.I always felt most vehicles look better with some custom to them. As far as the( bugcatcher air intake) as I call it, it's as functional as one sitting on top of 2 carbs & a blower that someone purchased for $1500 up, I handmade it. Just located up front, which does look cool peeking through the hoodscoop with the hood closed. Will make more sense whenever I complete my polished aluminum cross ram dual plenum intake some day. Not for everyone though.

As far as fitting a 2010 nose on an 83', it's pretty involved. See another one yet?? learned plastic welding & fabrication to section & reshape, also flalred fender width out to properly blend & decided to make the hood part of the fascia. Custom inner bumper to support the crash support. Hand fabbed headlights since there were no used ones in oct 09'. Can be done though, as I proved many wrong.

Got a little done on driver's side. removed 14 year old lazer stripes with eraser wheel. Made a rolled edge around my side exhaust outlet.

I gotta admit, I think the car is hideous...but that intake and hood gave me a boner. Any better pics of it?

With highly customized stuff, if someone only likes one unique feature, My job is done. Even the intake is completely handmade & functional.I'll eventually get done with my plolished aluminum dual plenum crossram intake to go along with it.

Only other near recent pics are in photobucket link & hooniverse .http://hooniverse.com/2012/11/29/tru...amaro-edition/ Did the start of the intake & underhood cover (Neither are fully complete) late last year before daytona show, swapped wheels & started ground effects after.

If you look at what it used to look like in mid 2009 before I started the nose conversion, you can see how much I'm having to change other things to go with the new nose.

Hadn't posted in a while. Got primer on the ground effects.

Started on a rear bumper project.Picked up a Cadillac XLR rear bumper, cut the sides off, & started loosely fitting. Doesn't look too bad from back if you like big butts, but is way too tall from side view. Will have to remove several inches from lower section.

Planning 4 centertailpipes, similar to c-7 vette, like these.http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mp...FRDl7Aod4g8AOg
