Default Fiberglass hood shake/flop/bounce at high speeds?

For those with fiberglass hoods like the reproduction ram airs and such, does anyone have any issues with the hood looking like its trying to pop off the car at higher speeds on interstate? Seeing it shake and bounce up and down the faster you go or on a really windy day or when approaching a semi?

I ask because I once had a svt contour with a carbon fiber hood briefly and it did just that. I know some or maybe all of the problem may have been the figment, it was pretty good but did have a small gap at front of hood. Not sure if it was that or if lightweight hoods like CF and fiberglass bounce like that. So looking for some help here. I currently have a 3rd gen f-body and am looking to get a 4th gen TA soon. Might end up with a non-ws6/ram air and of course will want the hood. I'm just wandering if there is a difference between the original metal hoods and the reproduction and other aftermarket fiberglass ones in this regard.

Original hood is SMC and the problem is you don't have the hood tied down in enough spots

I had a 3" cowl hood of unknown brand that would shake like crazy and flex at high speed.

fiberglass hoods will do that especially the aftermarket ones. they are just a thinner flimsy reproduction.

No other problems, but I put the stock hood back on because I never painted the cowl hood, plus it wasn't a sunoco.

Bummer. Well not what I was hoping to hear but oh well. Guess they work tho, not too many stories of them popping off or breaking or any other issues, other than just watching them move while driving?

I have a vfn Sunoco hood and I don't notice any shaking or movement when I drive...but then again I really don't watch my hood as I drive lol.

I guess not everyone has the same issues, I guess if its a daily driver it could get annoying and bother that crap out of you. Otherwise if its just a weekend toy then it shouldnt be a big of a deal

Mine does the same, i start to notice at 80mph, though the hood was an aftermarket upgrade to the ram air, hood. once you take something off of a car it tends to never sit back on like factory .-. i will keep watching this forum to see if there is a fix.

Ive read of other people buying aftermarket hoods and the hoods not aligning with the bumper. Theres always like a big gap between the bumper and the hood.

Mine is more on the driver side where the hood.meets the driver side front quarter panel down by the headlight. Took alot of adjustment to get the headlight over to clear the hood

Hood pins are always an option, there are less noticeable flush mount types these days. With a little engineering skill, twin latches could be setup on the outside cornors.
For someone with a really flimsy hood & fiberglass skills, a layer of cormat & then mat could be added to underside to add rigidity without too much weight.

I went to extremes after my 10 year old harwood el camino hood came apart on the highway. repaired it with fiberglass, made hammerformed side braces partly to attach my unique hood hinge system to, & bonded them to underside of hood with 3-m windshield urethane, then epoxy & mat to other side of flanges & hood. Glued lightweight wood strips in areas, then fiberglassed over to make new other underside bracing.
Currently I don't have any actual latches other than the hood hinge mechanism, though they are needed at faster highway speeds & will be added later.
