Door jam on Camaro - Cause for concern?
Long story short, I'm looking into possibly purchasing a car in my area. Overall it's in good condition, but the driver side door jam concerns me.
The car was sideswiped about 10 years ago according to carfax. I believe the door was replaced because there is no RPO code sticker and it not smooth on it's hinge, but I've also had that problem with old f-bodies in the past. The body panels all line up and the paint matches so there are no obvious signs.
Any thoughts on this:

Not well attached and has that "repainted" look to it. If this is an SS you would need to verify that by a means other than the RPO codes on the door jamb. Any SLP sticker on the passenger door with extra content? Then again, if the car has enough problems and an accident on the resume, then maybe it doesn't matter so much how SS/SLP got on the car, as long as they are there.
If you look at the inside seam the paint is missing, as if over-stressed and then cracked away as that rocker panel and door jamb got whacked.

thanks for the insight. I figured it was a repair of some sort. The rest of the car is fine though. no real issues and has a clean title.
I wanted to check the VIN to be sure it's an SS but unfortunately the SLP VIN site is down

That's the leading part of the quarter panel. It should be so tight in there that the seam is almost invisible. The factory used machine spot welds to join it into the rocker. Whoever did that repair should be shot. They blobbed on some stick or tig weld material in there and called it a day. What else did they do hastily during their "repairs?"

I would avoid that car. That kind of work shows that the car wasn't well maintained and more than likely had tons of other hack work all over it. Someone that cared about their car would never accept that repair so why did the previous owner.... because he doesn't care.

That repair looks horrible. Looks like something hillbilly bob did in his garage with his harbor freight welder and Walmart rattle can paint. I would avoid that car if that is what you see already.

i'm thinking the quarter panel is oem because of the seam sealer further inside the door frame looks oem. maybe the rocker panel was replaced poorly and that section inside the door was also damaged and just repaired vs replacing. i'm no expert.
