Default Question about replacing entire door. 2002 ss

Hi everyone, I’m looking for information on best way to go about this.

On my 2002 camaro driver side door needs replacing and I have a replacement from a donor car (2000 z28).
That car that had power windows, power door and mirror .

Problem is that I never got a key for the donor door.
It does have wire harness so remote will still work.

How do I go about using my own key from my own car on this door? I still have lock and tumbler in my door (hanging within door because someone attempted to break in).

You just need to swap the lock cylinder from your door to the new door. You have to take the harness out of your door, remove the door, install the new door, reinstall the wire harness and then swap the lock cylinder.

Sorry for new questions - just working on this car as I fix little things.

Can the lock cylinder be replaced in the donor door from inside without having to do any surgery from outside the door?

The cylinder just pops into the door from the outside and is held in place by a clip inside the door. Pull out the clip and the cylinder will just about fall out. It's super simple. Don't be surprised if you scratch up your arm working inside the door though.

Everything is done from the inside, expect removal of the actual lock itself. There is a rod that connects to it via a plastic clip, you pop that loose and pull the rod out. Then there is a clip holding the assembly to the door that slides in to hold the lock in place, from the top down. Use a long screwdriver or prybar to pop that off, and it will almost fall out the front side of the door. I was trying to find a pic of it, but no luck. Once you look at it from the back side of the door, you'll have a better idea of what I'm talking about.

Got this completed yesterday.
Finally my door can close as if it was brand new, interior lights can turn off and door lock can open with key in case battery ever dies.

thanks for info and pics !

Default replacement door key

I don't have a key for the door of my '02 TA - How can I get a key replacement (I don't want to swap out the tumbler)? Is there a way to get the lock key code and have a key cut?

And why don't I have a door key you may ask - my daughter had her car stolen and wrecked. My wife badgered me into lending the daughter my TA until she got her car situation worked out - it's not my daily driver. A year later she was still driving the TA...well...until she smashed up the front end, then all of a sudden she can work her car issue out and returned my TA on the back of a roll off. "Where's the door key" I asked; "I don't know what happened to it" was the response (BTW, my daughter is not a kid - she is 40yo). While getting the body work done, I asked the body shop if they can get the key replaced. When I went to pick up the car, the shop told me that they had a locksmith come out, but he couldn't get it done. Now what to do????? For now I keep nothing of value in the car and don't lock the doors.

This is probably not the right place to post this, so...I'll also start a thread specific.
