@JOHNNY59 are you still removing and selling the panels from donor cars? I would be interested in getting one.

Has anyone had any luck reaching MAGG for a CF replacement, I noticed their manufacturing notices are still on the site, but the last update was a year ago. I'm curious if they are just done or what?
My roof/sail panel look like crap now that the car is 22 years old. I'd like to finally get this addressed, and was hoping to go the CF route, but I guess whatever option I have ...

I've never been able to get an answer from MAGG.

I Googled for you, maybe you could try this...

https://www.ecklers.com/1993-2002-ca...-857165-1.html

It says "Availability: Ships Direct From Manufacturer"

Find out who it's coming from!

From the pics and description, I think it's the MAGG part.

Be careful ordering this, but maybe Ecklers can tell you more?

Those parts are made by extreme dimensions (I think) you can get them off ebay, but same problem says ships direct and lists in stock. But when you ask they say there's a 6 week wait time from the manufacturer.....

I was gonna buy one but didn't wanna wait that long, same deal with a rear diffuser

I found that one too, but I need the whole roof and sail panel. Only one's I've seen are MAGG, but I haven't checked ebay. I just want to get it dealt with over the winter or next spring, as I doubt I'll drive it at all this year as I have some other projects on her in the works.

Mine had RKSport on the invoice, ordered a carbon fibre hardtop from MAGG and when I got it the finish was garbage to the point it had a human hair trapped in the gel coat and the edges were hacked up and unfinished.

Thank you for the above, it just makes me happier that MAGG refused to get back to me.

So glad the roof from the 1995 Camaro worked out so well on my 2000 Trans Am.

I know right now Johnny59 has a few of these sail panels.

SO frustrating that on top of having to do the job, the part is SO hard to find.

I know someone here recently got the panel from GM as NOS -- just wow!

Were you able to salvage the panel they sent you? (

Replaced mine earlier this year. Also had nose, hood, spoiler repainted. Just got it back from full paint correction and ceramic coating.

My panel is now in the final stages of being repaired and will be ready to paint and put back on the car next month. The guy doing the job asked if there were any kind of "foam spacers" underneath the panel when I removed it. I honestly can't recall, but do remember the adhesive was very thick. Can anyone shed light on this?

P.S. The autobody shop that claimed they could get a N.O.S. item was blowing smoke up my ***. The item was on a "national backorder" was their claim. I was hopefull they might have an inside connection, but kept the panel I removed just in case.

There are no foam spacers, just a thick bead of urethane.

Since urethane is used mostly for windshields, my body guy had his glass guy glue down my new roof panel ("new" from a 95 Camaro).

I hope your guy isn't "fixing" a contaminated roof panel -- it can NOT be done.

I can finally un-bookmark this thread lol. Just finished my install. Got a panel off a 96, sprayed it with some NBM from AutomotiveTouchup, then 2K clear. Old panel was in real rough shape.

Are the sail panels from a hardtop usable for a t-top? There are two hardtops in local wrecking yards that have the roof intact. Just curious.

You've got to be kidding me. I've been trying for a year to find a hardtop in my area (south central PA). They are either unwilling to part it out to that point or I get that they have been scrapped already. My car isn't is real bad shape but I figure I better get a replacement before they all get crushed.

So I can presume the sail panel on a hardtop can be used.

Double Aught

ANYTHING'S possible if you have enough $$$.

But that would NOT be the way to go.

The hardtop roof panel would fit at the quarters and the rear hatch, BUT.

You would have to fabricate the edge of the roof panel that butts up to the t-tops from scratch, and it would not be easy.

Or if you could somehow reuse the leading edge from your original roof and section it on to the cut off hardtop roof. But that would be a lot of work.

Nope, get one from any f-car 93-97, or see if johnny59 has any...

Just a reminder to folks - the vast majority of 1998s are also OK. Just make sure you check the door sticker (or VIN number if the sticker is not available) for build month data (VIN can be looked up by any GM dealer for built date). The '98 cars from 04/98 and earlier are just as good as anything from 1993-97; 05/98 is hit-or-miss, and anything 06/98 or later is likely going to be a problem.

I know it's a hassle to worry about checking the build date on scrapped cars (hence the reason many folks just ignore the '98s), but as these panels get more and more scarce folks might want to be less picky about this extra (research) step.
