Just got off the phone with local dealer manager who told me that Chevy won't honor this as my car is out of warranty 3/36
I asked if that is for the paint? He stated yes.
Anyone know what the warranty is for paint on these cars from the dealer?
I have an 02 with 76k miles.

It is 6 years/100k, but they will tell you it is only for sheet metal rust. I had to go through BBB arbitration to get this resolved. GM customer service will give you the run around.

I called GM customer service and was told they could not find the Bullentin even with me giving them the number.
The rep did however tell me if the is common on Camaros and Trans Ams and if they are under 6/100k miles they should be covered under this warranty. I went to the dealer and they told me to go to the body shop for the dealer, which I am going this morning. I will post up what they tell me later today.
1220pm
Went to local dealer and was told the bubbles on the roof if not covered under the sheet metal warranty. I left message for GM customer service rep I spoke to earlier in the week. I am going to wait for her to call, if I don't hear from her by Monday afternoon; I will call the BBB.
315pm
Got a callback from Chevrolet cst svc and she called the dealer to where I went. Nothing changed, but she is giving my case over to DX specialist for my area, I should hear from him on Monday.
Any S.Florida guys with the problem, email me maxg929@gmail.com

Check out my thread in the main part of the paint and body forum. I posted my BBB documents that said the problem should be covered under that warranty. FYI I went through six months to get this fixed. Maybe if you show those BBB documents to someone early on it will be enough leverage so they'll do the repair.

Its kind of hard to tell without knowing more. Like mileage, year, how many owners, has a repair been attempted......

You should still be able to get this repaired since you brought it up before your warranty expired.

I'm the original owner on my 98 SS with 140k. car is nearly perfect, inside and out, but the roof bubbling is showing. funny thing is that I didn't have any bubbling until after it became a garage kept occasional driver. didn't notice it at all when it was my daily driver.

Do you know the build month of your car? There is a sticker on the inside of the driver's door that will give you this info. It'll be in MM/YY format.

Can you post that date please?

Thanks.

I'm trying to narrow down when GM changed whatever is was they changed to cause this issue. As we all know, the TSB only calls for '99-'02 cars, yet some '98s have also been effected. So far, my findings are that only May and June builds for '98 are effected. So far, March and earlier cars don't seem to have the issue, but I have yet to find an April built car.

Just wanted to see if yours stays with this pattern.

Just bought my car this weekend and didn't even notice them until I got home. They are there and I doubt if I have a leg to stand on! How much does this cost out of pocket?
