My car went in today to be seen by the General manager of the car dealership. he said when his GM comes by (2-3 weeks) he'll have the big GM decide if he should do any of the repairs (free or subsidized).

General motors is supposed to call me later today to talk about it. We'll see...

Been there done that . It's not a gas ,it's a liquid or resin , i sanded my to see if it could be painted , no dice .I found one unpainted on e-bay and replaced it myself. glue ,paint , clear coat , part , about 200.00.Anything under 300.00 let the dealership do it .

If they give you any problems denying your claim, I have a thread in Paint and Body with all the documents that the BBB gave me when they found in my favor.

Hey everyone. This is my first time posting on these boards, but read them everyday. I have the same issue with my roof bubbling on my 02 Trans AM and have spoken to maxgee since we live in the same area. Max, I am curious to see what the BBB says about your case because they just denied my claim saying that they cannot arbitrate this do to the age of the car and it is out of the 3/36000 mile warrenty. I gave them the case number the previous person on these boards that got there car fixed thru arbitration but they said that it was because he was in California and they have different laws from Florida which I think is total B.S. Anyways, Keep us posted Max.

Brought my car into GM a month before it went out of warranty. The regional manager said that they would repaid my roof panel however because I am the second owner I have to pay half. This is BS!

Matt, you should try looking into the consumer protection laws for your state. Also, why don't you tell the BBB that this is a 6yr/100,000 mile warranty paint protection issue. The BBB is supposed to help you with warranty issues.

Second owner, what a bunch of crap that is. You should tell him if they don't pay the full amount you'll take it to the BBB.

As it's been mentioned several times here in this thread. Don't settle for GM's answer, take your case to the BBB. The difference will be worth your effort!

FWIW, I am the 2nd owner and my top was approved 100% a few months back via the BBB.

Agreed.

There seems to be differing opinions amongst BBB arbitrators whether or not a persons claim has any merit. I was initially denied by the BBB but I had to file an appeal which basically said the BBB should make GM cover my problem under the 6yr/100k paint protection warranty. My appeal went to some guy in Virginia who decided that my case should be handled by the BBB. I won the arbitration and GM fixed my car about 2 weeks later.

All said and done, 6.5 months.

What a surprise.....

Makes me think twice about buying a new Camaro if this is how GM is going to treat me if something goes wrong.

Hey Loyolacub68. I did mention the 6/100,000 mile paint & corrosion warranty and they told me that they can only honor the 3/36,000 mile warrenty. I tried to disagree with her but that is when she told me different states have different laws to arbitrate. I still think it's total b.s. since this is a factory warrenty from GM. I am going to wait to see what they tell Maxgee and then try to go a different route if he gets the same response. I appreciate all the input. I will also try to find the consumer protection laws. Thanks again.

Wow. Guess you need to move to Cali. LOL. You could try and take your case to small claims. GM might just settle with you outright. You could show them my information in court. But I do not know what the consumer protection laws are like for your state.

Also, if anyone has had there issue resolved in Florida after the 3/36,000 mile warranty and had to go thru the BBB please reply to this and if possible give case numbers so we, who are still trying to get this fixed, can argue this point with them. Thanks again for all the help.

I think 2001somws.6 had two of his cars fixed in Florida and I believe he went through the BBB, might want to get in touch with him.

What evidence do I need to provide to the BBB? GM said it is not a recall so they don’t have to fix it. My car under 6 years from original owners purchase and only has 20K MI. Thanks
